You Agree? BMW Believes That the Key To US Growth Is More SUV Models
New and redesigned crossovers should get BMW's U.S. sales growing again in 2018, BMW Group finance chief Nicolas Peter said.

Peter projected that U.S. sales of BMW Group brands would increase up to 5 percent this year. The BMW brand's U.S. sales have not risen since 2015.

"We believe we are in a very strong position in the U.S.," Peter told Automotive News. "This growth in the U.S. will be very much supported by the launch of new X models."

They need to make "The Ultimate Driving Machine"

Go take the M240i for a test spin and tell us if there is anything which can come anywhere close to its handling and performance at its price point...

BMW already has a plethora of SUVs. If they WANT to grow their market share, then I feel they have to have more "compelling" offerings, whatever that might mean to them:
- Attract more customers at your current price point
- Lower your prices to attract more customers by providing a better "value"

They can start the better value part by using better materials in their interiors. Motor Trend in its SUV/Crossover of the year evaluations was on the mark dinging BMW on its "rubber" interiors. What BMW calls leather and charges extra for is anything but.

Unfortunately, the public is in love with the SUV. Minivans are obsolete and frowned on by 'style' conscious buyers. Only the SUV has the space and design components to suit most American buyers.

The two hottest models driving sales are SUV's and pick up trucks.
