#GIMS: Hyundai Teases The Biggest And Baddest Santa Fe SUV Yet
Hyundai Motor has unveiled its first facts about the New Generation Santa Fe, which will celebrate its world premiere in February before making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. The fourth generation Santa Fe continues the model’s global success story.

The new generation Santa Fe offers a comprehensive package of Hyundai’s latest active safety features under the Smart Sense technology umbrella. The innovative and industry-first Rear Occupant Alert monitors the rear seats to detect passengers and alerts the driver when leaving the car. The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning is now enhanced by an automated braking function. To avoid the risk of collision when reversing out of narrow areas with limited visibility, the system warns the driver and applies the brakes automatically.

A rear occupant monitor might be nice for idiots - but for most of us - we have had no trouble remembering that one of our kids was in the back seat. What's next - how about an alarm to tell us when there is one in the drivers seat!

I for one cannot imagine how anyone could be so dimwitted so as to forget their kid in the car.

A lot of people - for many different reasons - do sometimes forget their sleeping baby/toddler is in the vehicle with them.

Heck, I've had a a cpl pre-teens in the car with me some mornings & I'll be on my route to work...until one of them says, "Hey, this doesn't seem like the way to school..." lol. But it's not funny b/c some little tikes can't do that for themselves.

You're doing errands or are simply "rushing" with a lot of other "things" on your mind. It happens. Hard to believe, especially when the consequences can be fatal. Still don't think rear seat sensors are needed or should be a fed requirement.

In the USA 37 kids die on average every year from being left in a hot car. This stat likely doesn't count the kids on the verge of death who did not die. Nor the kids who were left in stolen cars and made it back in one piece to their parents.
YES, a warning system is needed for rear seated passengers so they are not forgotten.

So beat the parents to within an inch of their lives in live TV and throw them in Guantanamo and the idiot breeders would soon realize they need to pay attention.

The ONLY reason kids are forgotten is because their parents are on their phones.

Creating a "thing" to monitor whether kids are in the back seat is just more Liberal/socialist/fascist thinking in which the parents are victims--oh the humanity--and we must have more nanny state and not judge.

As a parent, I have ZERO patience for people who are irresponsible with their kids. I prefer grievous bodily harm to them.
