DRIVEN + VIDEO: Not Your 1990s Kia — REVIEW Of The All-new Kia Stinger Has Reviewer Second Guessing...
I know, I know. At this point some of you are thoroughly tired of hearing about Kia and its all-new Stinger.

Well, hold on then.

Reviewed across the pond by the folks at Carwow, this review of the Stinger gives us a well-rounded perspective on the all-new sport sedan. Can it REALLY compete with the luxury marques we're used to from the Japanese and German automakers?

I'll let you find out.

The good news is that the folks over at Carwow seem to tell it like it is. So far the team has been putting up trustworthy clips, so, might as well keep them coming!

The Kia Stinger: a car that takes the Korean brand away from the sensible and affordable, and against some genuine performance cars. This top spec GT model gets a 3.3-litre turbo V6 engine which places it very much in Audi S5 Sportback and BMW 440i Gran Coupe territory. So can it compete against the premium rivals? Find out in my full, in-depth review.

I've had the opportunity to spend some time in a Stinger. It's tremendous fun and yes I'd take it over the Germans because to get everything the Kia gives you, you'll spend a massive premium and you'd lose Kia's probably reliability. It really is too bad Ford isn't replacing the Fusion and Taurus with an RWD Falcon niche sedan.

The fake vents on the hood are a dealbreaker for me.

Are you OK with fakery on a BMW?

Thank God - another article about this POS. I was concerned that it had been almost 3 days since someone tried to sell me one of these cars that is so popular that it sells itself and needs to no promotion. Thank you also to Darringer, our in-house unbiased reviewer for pointing out (for about the 600th time) that he likes this car and thinks it is better than a BMW).

Did I cover everything? Are we done here?

I have driven it twice and plan to replace my expensive to maintain 300C with the GT this summer. A fantastic car.

The Stinger is a great car...competes well with Lexus and the Germans. I am in the market for something in this class and will most likely get the S5 Sportback...mainly for the nicer Interior, virtual cockpit and the better service experience. It is honestly a tough decision though. Between the A4 and the 4 cyl Stinger I would chose the Stinger easily.

Looks like a kia optima got attacked by ricer items from the clearance bin of pep boys.

WE have always had cars - that with optional equipment (Like a V8 option in a Nova) - could outrun many far more expensive cars. In addition - all over europe are cars like the GTI that perform at much higher levels than the standard fare. Put them together and that means that such cars are not that "NEW". So while the Stinger may actually perform like more expensive car - it is still a KIA. I do not know too many people who consider being seen in a Kia to be a PLUS.

So - if being invisible is your thing - buy it - you'll apparently like it. However - it will not be seen like a BMW would be no matter what they do.

Well you cannot beat the price and bang for the buck. The Kia is probably more reliable than any Audi or BMW as well.

The Stinger is a hoot and a half. I may have to CPO my Mustang at this rate.

I really hope it sells. It's an incredible first rate effort stepping up to bring out a product to compete against the Euro cars. It's a little bit large for my taste. However it is only an inch or so longer than a Mustang with a lot more room. The 4 cylinder turbo looks to be an incredible value at 33K.

TomM, I want a car that drives well with a well engineered chassis, real steering feel, is reliable and a good value.
If your self value is dependent on what nameplate you drive. Reliability on the German marques is not as good as Kia, their warranties are not as good and routine maintenance is expensive. But hey, if this is what you need, go for it.

Kia has come a long way from the mid 90's. Both Hyundai and Kia build as good as the Japanese. They are also closing the ride/handling gap with the Europeans and Japanese very quickly. In fact more than one review states the Stinger has better steering feel than a 3 series BMW.In a recent comparison between the BMW 7 series, Lexus LS, the New Lincoln Continental and the Genesis G90 it was the G90 that came out on top. A Korean may be my next vehicle acquisition in fact.
