Michael Schumacher receives unusual present

Michael Schumacher receives unusual present
Michael Schumacher recived from Dubai’s crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a piece of the man-made island paradise ’The World’, located off the coast of the United Arab Emirates.

’The World’ is 300 islands clustered together in a nine kilometre zone to resemble Earth from an aerial photo.

Schumacher’s island, apparently part of ’Antarctica’ on the artificial globe, is worth about (US) $7 million.

Schumacher’s manager Willi Weber confirmed: "In a couple of years it will be finished. Then Michael and Corinna will have their own holiday island! Perhaps he will build a kart track on it."

A $7,000,000 island, for a racecar driver, as a gift?

RANDOM.

Not any race car driver. Just some guy from Germany that raced for Ferrari in F1, and I think he had some decent sucess.

It might be worth it especially if he will give you personal driving lessons. Maybe in an Enzo. He is a great driver and champon. You can see that he truly loves the competition and winning.

The whole cluster of islands is only 9 km. With that being said, his island is most likely the size of an average house i'm assuming.

Heh, i guess it wouldn't be bad sitting on a lawn chair and drinking a corona.

I believe even the Ferrari or even Italy will not reward him with such a big gift on his retirement.

Mind blowwwing.

Big deal. Shumacher is a billionaire athlete - as such, $7M is chump change, considering he gave $10M to charity last year.

As for reasons why the crown prince gave this to him - well, it's not for displaying good sportsmanship that's for sure. Obviously the crown prince has more money than brains.

There are people suffering in this world...Thanks to the good ol U S of A...Man, imagine the US didnt steal all the Arabs oils..Imagine how rich they would be..Or how powerfull(or how poor the US would be, oh wait the average US citzen is already a poor slave)...The world could not survive without the god given wealth of the Arabs..And Dubai is an example what a heaven the Arab world could be if the US leaves them the f*** alone...Give arabs there rightfull control of there oil, coupled with rightfull leadership and a safe environment and they will lead the world..The same way they did before..PEACE!

Dubai is, basically, a place for wealthy Arabs to unwind, to waste money, and to engage in whatever sin suits their fancy. These stupid islands and underwater hotels are prime examples of waste in Dubai. Until we can find an alternative to oil to fuel our cars, homes, cities - they get to act like snobby teenagers.

Well said Loki!!
I 100% Agree.
Dubai has crazy money, the police their drive M5's and Porsche's are more common than Civics. Tons of exotics there. They truly waste money like snobby teenagers.

Once their oil is gone...guess whats their 2nd best export?? DATES...thats right DATES!

Let them waste their money now, once alternitive fuels come out and oil supply dwindles they will be in trouble.

They are trying to create a toursit destination but only for the ultra wealthy.

They have the island, under water hotels, ice rinks in the desert, 7 star hotels, and soon the worlds tallest building. Now unlike other countries this tower is not going to be buissness, it is mostly condo's. So as you can see another total waste of money.
Also Micheal Jackson moved to Dubai he got sick of the publicity in USA.

Dubai: "The playground for the rich"

My advice to them is to come up in technology too.Now they have plenty of time and resources.

Make the best of your God-given and not your own hard-earned money.

The cars in which i have seen Police the most during my visits to dubai were the Latest models SUVS like Toyota LC,Nissan Patrol and in my last visit I encountered many Nissan Pathfinder and Chevrolet Lumina SS Police cars.

"So? Ever been to Europe?! In many european countries they use 5-series and E-classes as taxies! And in germany both the border police and the normal police use 5-series to some extend (i think they use E-classes as well). In Denmark the police bought a Lotus Esprit to catch high way offenders, in italy they have a Gallardo police car and have you ever been to japan? they have some serious police cars overthere!"

Good question.
Do u know that in a coutry their own makes sells very cheaply compared to in other coutries.

In my last visit to Duabi,I bought many Car magazines, and in one of them(AUTOCAR Middle East) i found the complele car prices(Middle east prices)Chart.
So here it goes....

In Dubai u get new 2006 BMW 5 series starting from 175000 Dirhams and MB E class At 1650000 Dirhams.
and it goes to 320000 dirhams for the 550i and 360000 dirhams for the E550(They get the E500 badge)
M5 is for 4850000 dirhams and E63 AMG is 500000 dirhams.
*(1 US dollar = 3.675 Dirhams)
Divide that amount with 3.675 and u will see how much Dubai pay for the BMW 5 series and MB E class.
Same goes for The Lumina SS too,it too doesn't come cheap as in US.It cost 120000 dirhams there.

All in all,The ploice there drives 550i and E500/E55 AMG mostly, they pay nearly the same price as Europeans pay for the M5 or MB E63 AMG.

Do u know full option Toyota LC there is 220000 dirhams.

And as with the issue of offenders,Dubai has one of the world's lowest crime rates,it's veryyyyyyy safe and disciplined there.
So they don't need any gallardo or espirit for that matter.

What bulll.
It's so simple.

"All in all,The ploice there drives 550i and E500/E55 AMG mostly, they pay nearly the same price as Europeans pay for the M5 or MB E63 AMG."

For example,The M5 just cost around 80K in US,and in germany nearly the same or little less.Dubai pays more than 150K for that same car.

Ferrari gifted him the Ferrari 248F1 as a retirement gift. According to Raceday on Star Sports, an F1 car costs about $7-8 mn excluding research and aero testing. Inclusive of all those hours of work, it costs a whopping $20 mn. So, there. Michael Schumacher RULES!!!!
