Hyundai Banking Heavily On New Santa Fe - Does THIS New Look Change Your Mind?
Hyundai Motor Co., playing catch-up in the booming U.S. crossover market, is banking on a bigger, more modern redesign of the Santa Fe to lift its fortunes in the important segment.

Fresh renderings of the fourth-generation midsize crossover released Tuesday show a sleeker, sportier Santa Fe that adopts the brand’s new split-level lighting array up front.

Like the subcompact Kona crossover unveiled last year, the next Santa Fe gets sliver-thin daytime running lamps positioned high along the hood crease, while the main headlamps sit low on the sides of the grille. The novel setup creates “a unique, futuristic look,” Hyundai said.

Rendering looks nice enough but there is a sameness to crossover designs at the moment and this fits comfortably into the current mold.

+1 and how unfortunate is it that this be where everybody is heading. It kills me to see the sedan die before my eyes

I don't care for it, personally. I'm more into the classic lines.

If that's accurate, that's very attractive.

It better be a whole lot better than the current Santa Fe. I just rented one for a number of days. My back still hurts from the awful seats. Visibility is poor, the A-pilllars are gigantically wide create major blind spots left and right. Handling and braking are just barely adequate. Quality is low.
Definitely a forgetable rent a car.

Of course the real thing never looks as good as the design drawing. The midsize sedan is basically done. I seriously doubt that Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Chevy are going to replace their current sedan offerings in the next 5 years. Ford has already hinted it is bailing on the Fusion for 2020. I suspect Hyundai and Kia will follow suit. The compact car may be around for a while longer. However compacts have gotten so large they are filling the void for the mid size sedans of the 80's and early 90's.

So, like the Kona, Hyundai rips...steals the daytime running lamp/headlight setup from the Jeep Cherokee. This is ridiculous. Why can't Hyundai/Kia/Genesis create their own shit?
