WE are going to see more and more things like this - either electric or electronic problems as the manufacturers have pretty much greatly reduced real mechanical problems. In some electrical systems - especially the ones where the wires are multi-plexed with smart parts (that identify themselves with a chip) - and less wires - it can take days to find a problem and cost thousands of dollars. Mechanics who specialize in electrics are now making DOCTOR money per hour.

Eventually - the wiring will go away with blue tooth and wifi components - adding a new layer to the education of an auto mechanic. Carl Icahn has recently bought Pep Boys - and now the home office of AAMCO Transmissions - seeing opportunities for the future - BUT it is the Electrical Mechanic who will make the bucks. ANd he will need to provide training to get the people he needs - which I am sure he realizes already.
