Anglers And Outdoorsmen Offended By Jeep Superbowl Ad - Should They Be?

Chris Wood of Washington, D.C., thought watching Super Bowl LII would be a nice way to relax with his sons.

But when an ad flashed on the screen that depicted a Jeep churning along up a rocky creek, Wood, president and CEO of Trout Unlimited, was no longer relaxed.

“I’m sitting on the couch enjoying Super Bowl Sunday,” said Wood, describing the feeling. “That ad suddenly came on and I almost couldn’t believe what I was watching.”

Much ado about not a whole lot. Cars themselves put pollutants into the air. The manufacturing of cars puts pollutants in the water. Off-roaders probably run over tons of worms and bugs and their eggs/offspring just in the dirt and mud. Next.

Agreed.

While M-B shows off it's newest G-wagen which is most actively used for law enforcement & military duty. Should an ad for the G picture it driving through active battle zones next to tanks & through battle-worn towns?

So he is not offended by the disrespect the Players and the NFL have shown to this country, but the Jeep really made him upset?

Fake news, anglers/outdoorsman weren’t offended. The environmentalists/treehuggers were, but these people don’t watch superbowls nor tv... they watch the tree grows. So i call it!

I am still waiting for the last bastion of male chauvinism to get attacked here -
WHen you go to a Car Show -invariably they (The cars) will be accompanied by at least one or two "models" - who of course have EVERYTHING to do with the cars!

The song reads - "As I approach the prime of my life .... beautiful girls walk a little slower when you walk by me." THe day is coming when you will not be able to admit you even appreciate how they look!

A fish conservation organization was upset about the Jeep ads too. It's like they've been living under rocks for the past 100 years.

Trout Unlimited Pres/CEO Chris Wood said, "...the idea that you should buy a Jeep so you could drive it up a creek is incomprehensible to me..."

Many customers & media critics judge Jeep & its competitors on how deep water operation limits are (fording depths)....not just rock-climbing capabilities. There are hundreds of amateur videos showing off-road fans driving through dirt, mud, rock laden paths which include some crossings through streams. it is totally fathomable that Jeep would put that kind of capability in their marketing ads.
