SPY SHOTS: Jaguar S-type

"aguar is testing the next generation S-Type in the Californian desert-and some of the latest prototypes are shown in these recent photos.

Code-named X250, the next S-Type will take direct aim at the BMW 5-Series. According to insider information, the new S-Type will adapt styling elements from both the RD6 and R Coupe concept cars and will be getting an oval mesh grille split by a chrome bar with the Jaguar badge. Twin single-unit headlights and a bumper with integrated twin fog lamps are in the offing, too."

The next S-type saloon will undoubtedly provide a more luxurious experience than anything Toyota/Lexus has produced in the last decade and a half.

This is probably one of the "Ulgliest car ever made by Jaguar if it come into production that. Come on...that thing is ugly. If they want to revived the S-class they need to do better than that.

Lexus

We'll have to wait till we see the new Jag sitting next to the generic lines of the Lexus ES350 before we can say for sure.

personaly i don't think that this Jag is ugly. It's just a revolutionnary Jag. Realy different from last generations. Of course it could keep the tradition Jag lines. It's a bit risky for this brand to do this radical change. Lets see!

The XK was risky, and it's unbelievably gorgeous, just like the ads have said.

Every time I see one, I have to take a second look.

So I think risks are the only way to go for this company. The only exemption I see is the XJ- it's beautiful as is. But S-Type and X-Type need it, badly.

I remember when the Ford Taurus first came out and the Toyota Camry looked just like an '86 Nissan Sentra and that's what real Japanese cars are like and have nothing to do with '50's American cars.

EL34-

What?

What I meant by 50's cars is they were big cars and at that time Japanese cars were tiny, but now that they're making cars here in America they're getting bigger with each redesign and in about 10 years the Camry will be as big as a Deville.

It's not bad. It's basically a 4 door version of the XK with an ugly grill.

The grille needs to be wider...that'll do a lot for it.
