Automakers Unite Against Trump Tarriff Proposals

Automotive companies on both sides of the Atlantic pushed back on President Donald Trump's talk of a trade war with Europe using a similar refrain: Everyone will suffer if his rhetoric becomes reality.

"Tariffs are not good for anybody," Steven Armstrong, head of Ford Motor Co.'s European operations, said Tuesday in a Bloomberg Television story at the Geneva International Motor Show. "Any form of tariff is going to be bad news for us and lift our costs, and we're going to pass that through, probably to the consumer."

ECO 101. Crack a book before you post on this thread. This announcement by an auto executive was not hard to anticipate. The Big 3 and US Congressional leaders are against this ham fisted move by Trump. Global Trade rules and mechanisms are not to be treated like old toys by a spoiled child. They should be respected and dealt with using great care and consideration.

@Foncool: Do you suggest we go to Breitbart or Fox and Friends to get the uncolored truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? Or even fewer errors or untrue statements than CNN?

Now I'm not claiming CNN is always right, or "the best," but I am saying that Breitbart, and Fox and Friends are not what I would consider "credible information." If you need to have extreme-"right" views to "know the truth," then that's an insight!

Gary Cohn, ex-Goldman Sachs executive and top Economic advisor to President Trump has resigned today over the issue of Tariffs. Supposedly he was due to be the next chief of staff. This guy knows markets and trade and certainly took ECO 901. How many senior people have left the WH now? Expect more fallout and rancor over this important issue.

You’re first problem is you actually believe CNN. Cohen was not going to be next CoS. Unfortunately Cohen is acting like a typical Democrat he didn’t get his way so he’s taking his ball and going home.

@Foncool - If you believe sports scores, weather, current events and news about actions taken at the local, state or federal level of government, there is no reason not to believe what the major news networks report. If you don't you have been brainwashed by right-wing media and politicians who don't like facts or truth that does not support there cause.

How many times does CNN have to caught slanting, distorting or flat out fabricating it’s reporting before you realize their agenda is to support a narrative. http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/cnn-3-journalists-donald-trump-resign-russia-retract-1202479004/

Let me guess: You never took an econ class in college and instead attended rallies asking for a $15 minimum wage for french fry cooks?

It's not just these CEOs who know its a dumb idea. Pretty well everyone knows Trump is a loose cannon. His ill-conceived, spontaneous trade war is good for only his ego. Well, and stockholders (like insider Carl Icahn) who dumped their shares in steel-dependent US companies in advance of the tariff announcement.

The only folks still believing this trade war is a good move is the congregation at The Church of Trump.

like it or not, he is addressing this country's issues, as he was elected to do.

like it or not an ego maniac is in the white house who turns to policies equivalent to sugar highs for results. If it takes more than two sentences to explain his policies its too complicated. He is not addressing your countries issues what so ever. He is fooling the foolish and your country will suffer a great deal from his administration.
