Nissan Green Lights New 475 HP Z Car To Challenge Supra And Z4

The new sports car is expected to be shown in coupe´ guise before the end of next year ahead of UK sales starting in 2020, some 50 years after the original Z car arrived here.

Future generations of the Z model are understood to have been in doubt because of struggling profitability in the sports car segment, an issue felt more widely across the industry. Honda has admitted a similar quandary about an S2000 replacement and Toyota and BMW have teamed up in order to cut costs in the creation of their respective forthcoming Supra and Z4 sports cars.

Don't bother or create a 2 and 4 door coupe to replace the Maxima.

SUV is where the money is. You aren't going to revive the sedan and sports car market

Nissan has lost it’s soul after years of whoring cars to rental fleets and focusing on subprime markets. Have you driven one lately? Even if you have, you probably have forgotten because it was so boring...

My Z roadster is anything but boring. It gets positive reactions everywhere it goes from little kids staring at it to cops giving me the thumbs up. And it can still hang with the modern sports cars out there. But continue on trolling, fool.

Absolutely the WRONG car to build.

A new Z-car should be what the original Z-car was. It should be most similar to the Toyota FT86 in terms of power and price, not a Corvette.

It needs to be affordable to wear a Nissan badge.

It is affordable. It's just you're ... flat ass broke!

I'm far from broke. Most Z Cars on dealer lots are a good $10K higher than base price and they are not worth the base price to begin with. The reason--aside from ugly styling an horrific durability issues--that keep people from buying a Nissan Z is that for the money, they are easily outclassed by the Mustang and Camaro that offer superior performance, God knows far better styling, but much more importantly better quality.

Current Z cars are simply old technology from engine to chassis. A Civic Type R or a WRX STI(even a base WRX)will out perform it now. Of course Mustang and Camaro will do the same. The Z needs to be updated if Nissan is really going to continue it. Sharing a chassis with Infiniti makes the most sense. I just hope they can keep the cost with in reason. A 45K Z would be a tough sell.

"The 370Z is not without appeal. A similarly-priced hot-hatch might be more practical (and faster) day to day, but none can provide the same rear-drive, nat-asp, coupe experience as the Nissan. And if you’re into that, this and a Mustang are really your only options." -Top Gear

What's so brutal about Top Gear's review? Their biggest complaints were a dated interior and infotainment system. Everything is okay. It's an old school sports car so it won't have the cargo capacity as a hatchback nor the fuel economy. You should ease up on drinking that hatorade.
