BMW's New 3 Series Will Have Multiple M Performance Versions

BMW engineers have been tasked with ramping up the sporting qualities of the 3 Series when the next-generation model hits the market - and new pictures show the impact this has had on design.

The brand's best-selling model has long stood out as a driver's favourite among its rivals, largely thanks to the premise of rear-wheel drive and powerful engines. But the future version will take things a step further and be offered with more M-division fettled versions that come with generous boosts in performance.

To many lines, too many models...the New GMW.

And they have it camouflaged why exactly? Is it just me or do you also think Mercedes with its multiple and diluted AMG's and BMW with the many M versions are going for quick profits at the expense of diluting these specialty brands longer term?

its just you. The lower "M Performance" models perform really well. And don't have as hardcore a ride stiffness as the real "Ms"

m, m, m, M. Ok. Whatever. So now all the lower m model buyers will say they have an m car and lads and ladies with a real M car will have to add in "Real" or "Actual" when they describe their car. A bit like the guys who pony up for a "Real" Porsche Turbo these days.... Sad.

What I want to know is if they can find more places to place "M" badges on the m performance models.

Trim package = profits = high depreciation

I'm not a fan of the trim and appearance packages. Saying that, the M-Performance exhaust, suspension (real parts not the M-sport), wheels and better tires really make a performance difference. Well engineered. It's what I did to my F30. Great balance of daily use.
