Trade Talks Continue As US Drops Content Requirement In NAFTA Talks

The U.S. government has dropped a demand that all vehicles made in Canada and Mexico for export to the United States contain at least 50 percent U.S. content, The Globe and Mail reported on Tuesday, citing sources.

Always nice to see cooler heads prevail. I highly doubt the WH did not get a few calls from the big 3 on this demand. They can't hit that figure with domestic factories. It is a global business these days with parts coming in from all over the world. Focus instead on the value of software in vehicles and where that comes from. Its value will only increase as the years go by.

You don't understand negotiation. When you want something, you rattle the cage and demand far more than you want so that when the settlement is reached, you get what you wanted all along. That's Trump 101.

@MD I advise senior leadership and sell for a living. So yes I understand negotiations with senior people financial people. But I deal with intelligent people, not thugs or street/jungle style business owners. Trump's Art of the Deal has led to multiple bankruptcies and a business built like a house of cards on foreign debt. This provision was never going to be in the agreement and all 3 sides knew it from the get-go. Just a waste of time for all involved.

Your own discussion of your take on business proves you don't understand how to be entrepreneurial. Sell WHAT for a living???

@MD if you must know multi-million dollar cloud software for global company to F500 firms. Very, very boring and granular, but it pays the bills.
