#NYIAS: PLACE Your Bets! Lincoln To Debut The AVIATOR Today — What Form Factor Will It Be?
That's right, Spies. The Agents are in town and things are about to start popping off here in the Big Apple.

So, what does that mean for you? Keep your browsers locked on AutoSpies.com for updates.

Today, the very first reveal will be happening. According to our friends at Ford corporate, this is expected to be a surprise that's "Navigator big." To say we're excited, well, that'd be an understatement.

The Model? That would be the all-new Aviator. I connected with Agent 001 last night and we were mulling over the possibilities.

To me, it seems like there's only TWO potential options:

1) Lincoln brings forth the Aviator based on the all-new Ford Bronco chassis. It could be a two door or a four-door, but it will be hardcore and off-road capable.

2) Ford's luxury division debuts another all-new, four-door coupe SUV.

Place YOUR bets, Spies! WHICH do you think it will be? Also, share with us any other possibilities you think are possible from today's press conference.

Someone's been to another wine-and-dine press junket. Form factor? Isn't it fun using silly jargon to seem as if one's "in the know"?

The Aviator is a Lincoln Explorer. We already know that. We also already know it is CD6 based. There is no mystery. Take the Nautilus and inflate it and you have the Aviator.

There is no mystery or surprise here in any way.

It will be based on the Explorer. It is a big reveal though because it will most likely be based off the next generstion Explorer...

Again...NOT new information in any way.

Dealers have known this vehicle was in the pipeline for ages.

CD6 isn't as game-changing as some people are making it out to be, but it is different from CD4/5.

Dealers should soon be in the process of getting their service requirements for CD6 i.e. any specialized tools that must be acquired, specialized service needs, etc.

Manufacturers typically give lead time depending on how much has to be purchased in the way of specialized tools and service techniques that are different than current cars.

how different will the next-gen Explorer look? a little bit more like the Range Rover or the Velar?

My guess is that it will be an evolution of the current one's styling given how well it sells, but therein lies the danger of it getting old looking too quickly. I'd butch the current one up a little.

Supposedly the new Navigator only sits on the lot for 7 days before it is sold. It will be interesting to see what the sell-through rate is for the new Aviator and or if they follow up with a Traveller CUV (insert real name here) to address the fastest growing part of the market.

The Aviator is precisely what Lincoln needs. A lot of people want a Navigator but they don't want the size. The MKX/Nautilus and MKC are too small. The Navigator does indeed sell very nicely.
