#NYIAS: Nissan Gets Serious About The Sedan Segment With The All New Altima
The mainstream sedan market has been struggling for quite some time now, so you might be inclined to think the automakers are pulling back development and simply pushing more crossovers and SUVs.

The reality is that many are pushing ever harder to grab what they can in a declining market.   The 2019 Altima proves that very fact.  This is a ground up redesign that quite frankly is light years ahead of it's predecessor.

I think it looks pretty okay. Nothing so unattractive that would keep me for looking into it further, if I was looking at mid-market sedan.

No, doesn't work. The exterior looks bulky. The rear-end look horrible, now competing with the Lexus LC for worst designed rear-end. Id' easily stretch my wallet for a Maxima as it is better-proportioned and the tacky winged-eyeliner look works better. However, I'd shop for an Accord, Camry, Optima or Fusion before either of these Nissans.

In person - it looks like a Maxima - although cheaper. I do not see how this changes the game. It certainly does not compete with the Accord - and probably not even the Camry - although NIssan Dealers are likely to discount it more than those others.
