KIA Telluride Flagship Will Most Likely Be Based On K900 Platform

It’s not a secret anymore that Kia’s working on a range-topping SUV to slot above the Sorento. Scooped in prototype form at the end of February, it was previewed by the Telluride Concept.

According to the company’s product planner for the US market, Orth Hedrick, quoted by MotorAuthority, it will have quite a few things in common with the all-new K900.

“The components are there. We don’t have anything in the plans yet, but we certainly could. All the rolling stock is there”, Hedrick said, likely referring to the RWD-biased platform, adding that a K900-based SUV is “a natural thing”.

We know Genesis is getting a large SUV, so it would make financial sense to spread costs for a Kia or Hyundai SUV as well. As long as it looks similar to the concept, it'll do ok in the US market.

The Genesis SUV better be "easily" comparable to the GLS otherwise they'd be wasting their time.

lmao, so they are going to make another vehicle for genesis that no one wants. Kia, Hyundia, Genesis sales have been tanking every month for quite a while. Give it a rest and roll all of them into Hyundai.

Why always so much negativity on the Hyundai/Kia/Geneis name brands. Yes the Hyundai sales have been down but mostly due to not having enough SUV/CUVs in a market focused on them. Kia is still doing well, Genesis is actually doing very well for a new company and outsells many of the luxury competitors in the same class of vehicle including Lexus, Audi, Volvo. The only really cars doing better are the 5-series/E-class, the S-Class.

You can just turn out an vehicle in months to turn the sales around. If you, it will be crap and not sell. They are doing all the right things to be successful in the future. If you look at other brands outside of Audi, many have barely been inking out positive sales gains YOY and some miss months in-between with negative sales, but no one rides on those automakers.

Kia seriously needs to hop on this shit quickly. Stay true to the concept regardless of its derivative nature, put a version of the new K9's interior in there, and you've almost got a guaranteed hit, even potentially at the premium level.

Looks like it may come with its own zip code.
