If you're rolling around San Diego's Del Mar neighborhood, there's a good chance you'll stumble into some serious automobiles. You have to remember, the climate is right, some of the world's most interesting vehicles are located in SoCal and, frankly, it's a high net worth area.

The last time I went out west I was struck by just how many Porsche 911s there were. Mostly the new models; however, I was struck by just how many 993s were flooding the streets.

There's more 993's on the streets than when they were new!

If European hardware doesn't do it for you, well, then you've come to the right place. That's because this weekend is the Good Guys Del Mar Nationals Classic. That means, very simply, there will be a seriously large collection of very interesting domestic vehicles.

Some are trucks, others are sports cars and others are low riders. You don't know what you're going to get at the Del Mar show but one thing's certain: It sure as hell will be entertaining. Having said that, scope out AutoSpies' pictures becuase there's no one else covering the shows like we do.

I actually had two cars that were there - and I loved both for different reasons

1 - THe 1967 Pontiac GTO - I had a rare convertible - and sold it for more than I paid for it.

2 - What is not shown is a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible - Bright red - with white interior. Since the Duesenbergs - there has not been another car on the road the made the same luxurious statement as the big Eldo. This was at a time when REAL stylists created cars - and while they were often lacking in ergonomics - they really did look great. THe day of well styled cars is gone and won't ever come back like that again.

The "Count's Customs" look of several of the vintage cars leaves me cold.
