China Caves And Will Open Market And Reduce Tariffs On Automakers
BMW and Toyota Motor were among global automakers that received some good news from China after President Xi Jinping reiterated a pledge to reduce import tariffs on vehicles this year, heeding decades-long pleas from companies seeking better access to the world's biggest auto market.

China will "significantly lower car import tariffs" and "sincerely hopes to boost imports," Xi said in a speech at the Boao Forum in Hainan on Tuesday.

I will wait for the other shoe to drop. You can bring in all the BEV's you want....at 0% tariff. Environmental goals will likely still be on top of their agenda as a nation cough..cough, wheeze.

China (and the US) will do whatever they feel is in their best interest no doubt.

Talk is cheap

Right now - nothing has happened
Trump had not yet imposed the tariffs he has suggested he would AND
China has not yet reduced any tariffs on cars - noting that they did not make that promise to any AMERICAN Car company as well.

WHen something actually happens - I will judge based on that - not on what is SAID

China could easily be to the USA what Mexico and Canada cannot offer.

Tariffs are stupid...and China Xi is an adult! Trump is a little boy. Believe me, China is ready to play BALL! They are already #1 Super Power, thanks to Trump.

Wow imagine that Trump called Beijing's BS unfair trade practices and it worked. Weather you like him or loathe him you can't deny the fact that he is Muricas biggest cheerleader always trying to get a better deal for the US and good on him.

Trumps message and methods may be crude but they get the intended job done. Now get China to stop artificially stop tanking the RMB but that will prove to be much more difficult if not impossible undertaking...

Trump realizes that USA holds all the strong cards and will play them if needed. China holding all those treasuries actually is a problem for them.

China’s import tariffs on cars have been skirted for years by Chinese entrepreneurs buying cars in US running them through Taiwan or other Asian countries to the mainland.

Show isn't over yet, however good on Trump. I wasn't sure the trade war tactics were the best strategy, but certainly nothing else has worked with China through multiple administrations. Their theft and bullying various companies of ICAP has really been ridiculous. So good on Trump.
