NTSB Reels In Tesla's Musk After Comments Over Fatal Crash

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and NTSB chief Robert Sumwalt spoke this past weekend about the agency’s ongoing probe into last month’s fatal Model X accident.

In a statement to Reuters, NTSB spokesman Peter Knudson noted that the Tesla CEO and the agency’s chief discussed several points during their conversation. Among these are the NTSB’s investigative process and Tesla’s initiatives to address safety recommendations that were issued last year.

This is a clear situation where the NTSB wants TESLA to kep information regarding such accidents PRIVATE until they have had the chance to investigate and come to a conclusion.

THAT Is not in the best interest of TESLA - or anyone else who can be judged in the public space. Clearly - TESLA would want to release information that would support its position in such an instance - ASAP - to prevent customer erosion. I do NOT believe the NTSB has the right to "classify" information to make it not releasable in such a case - and Frankly - even though I am not a TESLA supporter - If I were TESLA - I would NEVER agree to do so unless I was directed to do so by a court.

No. The NTSB wants to keep unscrupulous Tesla from spinning the facts and then should the NTSB disagree, Tesla unleashes their owners--the David Hoggs of the automotive world--to shout down the real story and create confusion.
