Semi Truck Wheel Breaks Free And Crashes Into Model X's Panoramic Windshield
Have you ever wondered what would happen if a giant object would hit the Tesla Model X’s massive panoramic windshield?

The Model X’s “Big Sky” panoramic windshield is a signature feature of Tesla’s electric SUV due to it stretching all the way over the front seats and to the Falcon Wing doors.

The design offers an unparalleled obstruction-free view, but it also comes with other challenges, like requiring Tesla to develop a relatively complex sun-visor system.

Tire is large and displaces load across its area.
An airborne concrete block would have done far more damage.

Looks like the ElonShield™ failed.

I don't know about you - but I do not see the advantage of a huge Windshield - when sun coming from the top requires me to wear a HAT while driving. I do not like Sunroofs because they take valuable head room that a tall person like me does not want to loose either.

I suppose it will allow me to avoid having a PLANE from landing on top of my car - but I have not had problems with that in the past - have YOU?

You don't need a hat, the roof is really tinted and blocks most light.

Can they call Safelite? Oh wait, only a Tesla service center can fix it IF they can get the part.

Its too bad that Tesla cannot catch a break.

Tesla would juice its sales if it did a lite redesign of the Model X to make it a more mainstream SUV with normal, non-electric/non-falcon doors and a normal windshield. A full steel/aluminum roof would be nice too.

It could probably list for $10K to $15K cheaper and since it would be lighter, it would be faster and have a longer range too. This would be found money for Tesla.

Indeed. If they had delayed the Model 3, did an emergency redesign of the Model X's stupid falcon doors and the skin cancer causing windshield and turned it into a normal crossover, sales would had minimum doubled and given Tesla's meager volume, having all of the Model 3's volume be Model X volume would be most beneficial. The Model 3 should also have been a small crossover.

Model Y will probably have normal doors. The windshield on the X is great, not sure what you're complaining about. 99% of UV is blocked, just like the pano on the Model S.
