WORLD EXCLUSIVE! Spies Debut 2018 Wranger JL With The Most Unique Interior So Far!
As you all know already, I have an obsession with Jeeps. There. I said it. They say the first step to beating an addiction, is admitting the problem.

Since the major updates to the Wrangler starting in 2012, I've owned five. And as of a couple weeks ago, I'm now the proud owner of the all new 2018 Wrangler Unlimited JL Sport S.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL Sport S Katzkin

Over the next few months I'll do something for you that NO other site or magazine can do for you. Give you the REAL scoop of the differences and pros and cons of the JL. Because unlike all the reviews you may have seen already, 99% of those reviewers don't OWN one or have EVER owned one.

And we believe if you don't have skin in the game, your opinion is not as comprehensive or as insightful as someone who has lived with the product for more than a few days. So look for my review soon...

But for now, I'm going to cover one of the reasons WHY Jeep's are so fun and show you the ONLY way to go if you own one or are deciding to buy one.

And that subject is customizing your Jeep. A must do if you want to put your personal touch on your baby.

I will be doing a number of special things to mine. But the FIRST thing I did on my last one and I will always do going forward, is to call my friends at Katzkin Leather. Why? A number of reasons. First, The cloth factory interiors are lame. Secondly, Jeep just doesn't offer a good selection of interior leather choices. Uninspired, would be a better word. And lastly, after owning one with a Katzkin leather interior, the quality is BETTER that the factory choices, for virtually the same price.

Here is what it looked like before...

B-O-R-I-N-G and C-H-E-A-P !

One thing you'll see right off is how unique the design is compared to what the factory offers Jeep customers.

You can go to Katzkin.com as play with their configurator and she just how many great choices they offer. And check this out...once you choose the interior you want and place the order, it will be shipped to your local installer within 48 hours!

Now let me make one thing perfectly clear for full disclosure. Katzkin gave me the interior upgrade in my JL in exchange for this coverage on Auto Spies. But for those of you who know me, if I don't believe in a product or like it myself, it will NEVER be featured here. For any price. This JL is my baby and ain't no one touching or changing it unless I LOVE it.

I worked directly with their in house designer Rami Khoury to pick out the exact combo. And as you can see, it really pops thanks to the expert install by Sergio!

Miles and Rami also gave me a tour of the factory just south of Los Angeles and it makes me proud to see USA companies flourishing and the pride of the hard working specialists there. It's not just a job to them, it's an art. And you can see it on their faces! BTW, with the economy booming like it is, they are hiring. And that's great news! U-S-A!

I can confidently say it's the most unique Wrangler JL interior so far and you can really see the difference in quality between the Katzkin and Jeep factory product. Everywhere I've gone, people are freaking out and asking WHERE did I get this done and how do they get it done to theirs.

Also, as a past owner on my last Jeep, I found their leather wears better over time than the interiors I have had with factory leather.

So what are you waiting for? Jump on Katzkin.com and start playing...let's see what you'll come up with!

It's like in the olden days when cereal boxes used to carry a toy or prize at the bottom. So you'd dig and dig and dig, sometimes even dumping all the contents into a big bowl. Only for it to be a sticker.

Question 1: Do the seats in the Jeep have internal air bags?
Question 2: If so, do they still work appropriately or do the seat covers prevent deployment?

1. Yes.
2 They are not seat covers, they are all new seats just as if done at the factory so there are no issues with deployment. I cannot imagine ever ordering the factory leather for the Wrangler when you have 1000's of combo's to choose from. Plus, as I said the quality of leather and long term durability is better. All, for only about 2-300 more than the factory leather option. AND, they will do custom logos as well for just a bit extra. I really like that you can really make it into a one off.

And in the aftermarket you get the ghastly stitching. I was not impressed with the look of the quality at all. The embroidering was amateurish.

Just leave your wallet on their table.

Custom seat covers really aren't that bad for cost. They aren't cheap, but they aren't impossible either. I've just never done one on an air bag equipped vehicle.

They are NOT seat covers. The old seating material is removed and all new material replaced down to the frame. And it's only a few hundred more than factory and MUCH better customization choice and leather quality from my experience as an owner.

And that INCLUDES the full install by their factory authorized dealers. You just can't lose in my opinion. ZERO downside.

If they cover the seat, they are seat covers.

Seeing it's mostly a beach cruiser, I don't see it 'mudding'...But if I was that would not be the best color combo...

If the material is not specifically designed to rupture properly via well-placed internal perforations, seat airbag protection will be compromised. Given the photos of vinyl oops leather, I don't hold high hopes for proper function.

Gee - what a wonderful Advertisement for an Aftermarket company that apparently has No connection with the vehicle manufacturer

I hope you were paid LOTS of money from them to keep the site in operation.

First of all, Katzkin does a LOT of work for FCA directly. Secondly, we disclosed that they gave us the interior upgrade and that it was sponsored by them if you READ the article. Finally, NO ONE EVER gets a sponsored article at ANY price unless we LOVE their product. I will re-iterate. Until Jeep offers more seelction of interior choices and makes better quality leather than Katzkin, I will NEVER buy a factory Jeep leather interior again. For MY Jeep, it will be a Katzkin upgrade.
