UK Anti Diesel Rules Costs 1000 Jaguar Workers Their Jobs

Jaguar Land Rover  will not renew the contracts of around 1000 agency workers at its Solihull plant due to industry challenges caused by falling diesel car sales.

The company said in a statement that “continuing headwinds” have forced it to make "adjustments to production schedules and the number of agency staff”.

It continued: “We are, however, continuing to recruit large numbers of highly skilled engineers, graduates and apprentices, because we are over-proportionally investing in new products and technologies.

It's how socialists roll. If they can make a decision that rapes business, then they do it.

This is not a political decision - that has NOTHING to do with it.

THere are two reason's why they are doing this
1 - Diesels are not selling at the same rate as they were - that is simply a reality. And`
2 - Cars are also not selling at the same rate they were.

In the future - Manufacturers are more likely to produce a number of cars from a single platform ie - tweeners-- allowing them to cover more of the market with fewer models - and fewer models means people will lose jobs in this area.

Of course it's a political decision, Tommy. You Alt-Left people go to the church of global warming and pray for shit like this to happen. Stop being disingenuous.

@MDarringer: Your paranoia about all things not Alt.Right is profound (e.g., The Socialists, The Communists, The Liberals, The Blacks, etc.) Also, we 'Spies members are clear that climate change denial (anti-science) is one of the foundations of your belief system, so no surprises there :-/

This is where you retort with your all-too-predictable, deflection, denial, and derision.

For those who read articles, it is cutting 1,000 contract (temp) workers from a UK based staff level of 40,000. Not a small amount, but not the same as eliminating 1,000 permanent roles. Likely most if not all the cuts are on the Jaguar side of the business.

Yeah. The outlawing of diesel had zero impact. There is no "Jaguar side" they are the same company. They are not distinct entities.

@MD-, Of course, the diesel ruling factored in. Jeepers. And if you look at the balance sheets there is very likely a Jaguar Group P+L. Tata has many groups and divisions, so does JLR.
