Puerto Rican Power Grid Fails - Only Those With Tesla Powerwalls Remain Working
Almost 1 million ratepayers of the Puerto Rican Electric Power Authority on the island of Puerto Rico were reportedly without power today during an island-wide blackout.

But a few hundred locations with Tesla Energy storage systems were able to keep the lights on, according to CEO Elon Musk.

After Puerto Rico was ravaged by hurricanes last year, most of the island’s population lost power for an extended period of time as the grid was badly damaged.

While power slowly came back online over the last few months, they still have been having issues and today, the entire power grid went down again for virtually everyone on the Puerto Rican Electric Power grid.

Good news for some... Now if they could get some real help down there and bring the island back on line. This is sad that US Citizens are going through this.

Millions of Americans in Puerto Rico are still in deep hardship from last year's hurricane, but they've been bumped out of the news cycle by more important Stormy matters, other scandals, and such.

Good thing the current administration gave themselves an "A" on their report card on how they handled this :-/ (Yeah... that was sarcasm.)

@TheSteve - Based on the number of down votes you get (none from me), I must say you are a popular guy or you have one obsessive fan with multiple login IDs. I can guess who that ONE is.

I concur! I'm like the "ex" that he can't get over, LOL!

Additionally, some folks get terribly upset when I present facts that don't support their worldview. Ditto about saying or implying anything less than flattering about The Lord Don, or The Holy Party :-/

Some sort of redundant system should be mandatory at hospitals, schools, and grocery stores. Really sad that this is happening in 2018.

@SanJoseDriver: Unfortunately, Puerto Rico is not a rich state. It's a territory (without States' rights), and it's relatively poor, so there's very little "national interest" about it. Puerto Rico is also "out of sight and out of mind," so federal governments (not a partisan statement) rarely think about Puerto Rico's problems, or truly helping them, even after the devastating hurricane last year.

So it turn out the Puerto Rico is one of the most important manufacturers of sterile medical irrigation fluids. You will be amazed to learn that since the hurricane we are having a shortage of sterile water in the continental US. Now how complicated can it be to make some sterile distilled water and put it in 1L and 3L bags but there is still a real shortage until Puerto Rican production come back on line at full capacity. I hope their problems will be solved soon.

@dstampfer: My strong preference is that we, and the Federal Government who allegedly represents us, would help the people of the American Territory of Puerto Rico because we are humanitarian, rather than we need some of their products :-/
