Mission E Sedan Taking Shape - Would You Choose It Over A Model S?

Porsche is applying the finishing touches to the most radical model in its 87-year history. The Mission E will be the German brand’s first fully electric production vehicle and spearhead a commitment to electrification that will see a range of plug-in hybrid models and additional all-electric vehicles launched in the future.

Porsche first signaled its intent to build a fully electric vehicle with the Mission E concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in 2015. The production model, which will get a new name over the concept, will be shown early next year ahead of first customers taking delivery at the end of 2019.

Absolutely!
No hesitation choosing this over Tesla.
Gorgeous out and inside, no issues regarding the fit and finish either as Tesla leaves a lot to be desired and Porsche has great reputation already.

Yes. Its gorgeous unlike most other electric cars and Porsche unlike Tesla will be around for the foreseeable future and I can use HOV lanes...Glad I didn't get the Model S.

Neither, since they are both far more than I'm willing to pay for. That said, if I was in the market at that price range, I absolutely would give the Porsche serious consideration.

CanadianComments - Sorry - but YOU are wrong.
In fact - YOU probably do not follow the words of the christ from the New Testament.
And Matt - My source has always been the BIBLE itself - I will use a direct Quote from the NEW TESTAMENT
Luke 14:26-If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

THAT is in the New Testament - it is succinct - needs no interpretation - and says that you cannot be a disciple of the christ UNLESS you hate your parents - children and others.

It is in 1 Timothy 11-12- that I quoted about women - again I will quote the New Testament - 11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet.

I would suggest that neither YOU nor Matt hate your families - I would not consider following this nonsense - and a rational person knows that it is FALSE.

@MD - He is a Pope who most closely follows the spirit of the teachings of Christ we have ever had. A champion of the poor and welcoming to all, no matter who, no matter what, and regardless of what the world thinks of you. Just like JC. No wonder he is so well liked. Best Pope ever. #WWJD?

I'm very glad that many Catholics are repudiating him openly. He does NOT represent my faith.

Of course not MATT

YOUR faith is based on the BIBLE - which says that women are worth about 1/2 what a man is worth - a woman should be silent and submissive to a man - an wiman should hold no power or authority over a man - and they are saved in child bearing. It also says the appropriate punishment for a disobedient child is to STONE them to death - it includes directions on how to PROPERLY sell your daughter into slavery - tell a young raped virgin that she MUST Marry her rapist and they cannot get divorced. And it says that ALL seed bearing plants are for humans for food - Oleander is a seed bearing plant - eat some to prove it correct!

ANd of course - if you do not eat it - you accept the bible to not be true!

@TomM you just demonstrated hate speech, bigotry, and intolerance of people of faith and it is deeply offensive. You don't have to follow a religion but raping religion with your words is hate speech. Would you also grossly misrepresent Muslim faith too or are you and unequal opportunity kind of hate monger? MATT - There is NOT a single thing I posted in that message that is Not in the Bible - it is indeed Bigotry - hate and intolerance - that is what the BIBLE is. It is sexist - abhors women - and has more intolerance than can be written about here - AND I AM GLAD YOU AGREE.

ANd no - I cannot follow a religion whose "word of god" treats women as second class citizens - and has all sorts of outrageous and downright disgusting beliefs - and THESE are represented as the WORDS of a Loving God. I do not believe in religions like that.

The problem with Monotheisms is that they claim only ONE creator - and that creator created everything. SOOO - for those religions - the source of ALL EVIL has to be the creator - and of course the adherents are actually worshipping the ultimate source of evil - and you can choose to do that. I will not be following you.

Thankfully - the age of religions are almost over - religion is actually dying in the world. Reality - including that both Evolution - now proven true through DNA research - and the Big Bang - supported through Color shift experiments with the space Telescope- now debunk even more of the bible - and even the PEW research group - a christian polling organization - showed that most people under 25 only go through the motions for family harmony but have no interest in continuing afterwards. The only place religion still is expanding - is in Africa - where Christians combine their beliefs with Voodoo rituals.

When called onto the carpet for wrongdoing, they double down and defend their hate speech.

It's OK for them to spew hate speech, but if you call them on it, they have to explain it away because the battle axe they use on others does not apply to them.

THAT is the definition of hypocrisy.

@TomM - Just to put it out there, as a Catholic you spend zero time with the First Testament of the Bible where all of the stories you quote come from. Catholicism is about the good news preached by Jesus Christ and about a loving and forgiving God. Other Christian religions from what I understand focus quite a bit on the first Testament. Others pick and choose what they like from the whole Bible. It's a big tent but there are some oddities to the assembled groups.

@Canadiancomments Don't mind TomM. He was probably a bigoted Catholic basher inculcated into it in whatever church he went to before he got lazy and no longer wanted to go to church, so he made some BS up monotheism and organized religion so he could stay in bed.

As for me, I converted about 12 years ago. My wife's family is not only Catholic, they are ITALIANCATHOLIC. It's a sub-genre. The religion "works" for me. I will say it's fascinating being in a family that has been completely American for a century and a half, but which has maintained contact with relatives in Italy.

Going to mass in Italy is an experience. I understand Italian pretty well given that I speak Spanish fluently.

THis is not a place to discuss the stupidity of ancient religions - superstitions - and Fairy tales - it is for discussing AUTOs- REligion is waning in the world for a good reason - everyday - something else believed by religion is proven NOT TO BE TRUE. AND no ancient religion manages to get the configuration of the Universe correct - much less the shape of the earth.

I did not start this thread about religion - not did I attack the pope first as well. I hold no hate for those who have been indoctrinated into that nonsense - I was initially as well - I am not a Catholic as is said here as well. The current ALL encompassing definition of a "god" - cannot be true - it simply is not possible for a god to have the contradicting characteristics. However - as were the founders of our country - I find that I cannot eliminate the possibility that the DEIST belief of a "creator" who started the process but is no longer involved (May not even have existed past the "creation") might be true. This is the ONLY current belief which agrees with the PROVEN facts of Evolution and the Big Bang. WE do know that Energy cannot be created nor destroyed - meaning it is eternal - and therefore always existed - and through relativity - mass developed or existed. Life could have emerged from them without the need for a Invisible Wizard - waving a magic stick - yelling some magic words (Bibidee bobidee boo no dount) and have the earth appear 6,000 years ago - when we KNOW the earth is Billions of years old.

THe waste is - there are Millions of children in the world go hungry everyday - while religious crooks - con people into believing that they need newer and larger jet aircraft - bigger cars - and golden statues - among other things. It is interesting that the FABLED christ - in the bible - NEVER said to give money to a church - but always and in many places - said that to be "saved" (From what?) - you should give your money to the POOR. THe size of these church endowments means they do not qualify.

Time will tell.

Just the fact that there are MULTIPLE Porsche dealers in my state alone is a good enough reason to purchase a Porsche over that other brand. Fact is - even Porsche dealers compete with one another for sales. THEY are not all owned by the company. However - I also note that - as a part of VW - there is sufficient Cash FLow there to ensure long term viability - the same cannot be said for Tesla

And I have been led to understand that ONE owner of that OTHER brand actually had his car rocketed into space - must have had a lot of Defects for that extreme move!!!!

Certainly the Tesla is better in every way - looks, recharges twice as fast (80% 240 miles) in under 15 minutes, faster straightahead than every Model S/X except the $130,000 and up versions and faster than all of them on the curves. Tesla will not gouge their customers the way Tesla does and I doubt that Tesla can withstand the avalanche of electrics coming into showrooms. The Porsche battery pack is also a lot safer than Tesla's widowmaker battery.

Will have to wait and see what the final version of the Porsche will be like, but I think the S will still provide better bang for your buck. The original Mission E prototype looked amazing, but the latest version has been a lot less impressive. If costs were the same, I would still probably go for the Model S since I like the design, infotainment system, and Autopilot will probably stay a year or so more advanced than the Porsche. It will also be interesting to see if Tesla releases a refreshed Model S before the Mission E lands.

CanadianComments - Sorry - but actually at least ONE of the posts about women is right from the mouth of the christ in the bible - 1 Timothy 2 - in the new TEstament. The NT is also where the christ also tells SLAVES to obey their masters EVEN if they are being mistreated - as well - AND IN the New Testament - the christ - who if he were a real person (He is belief that cannot be proven) - also says in 2 Timothy 3 that ALL scripture is GOD breathed and useful for teaching - noting that if he actually was a real person and lived - the ONLY scripture there was during his supposed lifetime would have been the Tanakh - the OLD Testament.

YOu see - the problem is - once you can determine that there are things in the bible that cannot be true - are obviously NOT true - or are proven completely false - the rest of the bible is nothing more than the superstitions of a bunch of cave dwelling nomadic goat herding uneducated middle easterners who still believed that the Universe revolved around them - and that MEN were the superior beings. I actually attended the seminary for two years (Not to be a priest - I had skipped several grades in school and my parents thought it would be safer for me being that young) - I memorized the bible that my father's brothers (Two Catholic Monsignors) brought to me from our Europe- hand written in Latin. I am not uneducated in religion - but there are still too many things that do not make sense. When you dismiss the OLD TESTAMENT - there is no need for a Jewish Messiah - among other things. I have found that most who make that claim against the OT actually pick and choose from the old testament (One version of the ten commandments for example) -anyway.

So -in the new Testament - (both Matthew and Luke) - the devil takes the christ up to the top of a high mountain from which they can see ALL the kingdoms of the earth. Not on MY earth sorry - even from the highest mountain today - you can only directly see about 211 miles in any direction before the curvature of the earth prevents you from seeing further. MY earth is a sphere - and there is NO PLACE - no matter how high - from which you can see ALL the kingdoms of the earth from - the christ would not have been able to see Greece - and China and Japan predate that time too. OF course - if the christ were "the god" - then he would have known that - too - so HOW did a false story get into the bible? Did the writers get it from the devil - there was not one else there!

WE have not a single piece of evidence that can be dated from the supposed time of the christ (His name could not be Jesus either - not his stepfather be Joseph) - no writing - no inscription - noting at all - that even mentions him - YET - we do have mention of John the Baptist - and the results of 10 years of TURTLE races in ROME. This time was the GOLDEN AGE OF ROME - and surely a scribe would have written about a man who raised a rotting corpse from the grave - but NONE did - why? - Remember - R

@TomM- I have a few atheist friends and they make the same or similar arguments. As my Dad always said, you don't put your faith in a book or in the people or in the church itself. All can be flawed to one degree or another. Faith is found in the message and the meaning of the teachings of Christ. Everything else is 2nd.

@canadiancomments It will be interesting to see what Tommy spews next. I honestly do not understand the source for the sheer hatred of people of faith that the psychotic Alt-Lefters spew. They bash people of faith for supposedly being bigoted, judgmental, and intolerant, but the way they bash is to use bigotry, judgment, and intolerance. My short life has shown me that hateful people masquerade as pillars of society, but sooner or later they pull their own masks off--without realizing they've done so--and it just gets worse from there.

Good to see VW to get in the game. May do fine as a Porsche model but not as a game changer. At higher price and lower performance (range and 0-60), recipe for modest sales compared to Tesla.
