DRIVEN: 2018’s HOTTEST SUV? All-new Lamborghini Urus Gets Sorted Out In This REVIEW…
One of the more controversial sport-utility vehicles to hit the market is the all-new Lamborghini Urus. There’s a couple reasons for this but, most obviously, it’s a Lamborghini SUV.

Although this is a brand that is used to challenging conservative notions, an SUV from the raging bull is a bit tough to swallow. That said, it seems it has been welcomed with arms wide open for the most part.

Then there’s codgers like me who see it as merely an overpriced Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.

So, what’s it really like? The boys and girls over at CAR across the pond recently had a go in the all-new Urus and this is what they concluded:

Lamborghini Urus: verdict

Until Ferrari and Aston launch their SUVs, there really isn't anything quite like the Lamborghini Urus on the market. It's indecently fast, whether the road is straight, curvy, bumpy or not a road, it looks unique and it can carry all the family or friends when needs be. The only question remains for those with the cash: be an early adopter or wait it out for the even faster SV version?

What say you, Spies?

Just make sure you don't tick the 23" wheel package option box. 21" Should be enough for anyone. And yes your snow tires will likely be sourced from the dealer. Order now to make sure you get a set in time for winter 2018.

They are currently projecting availability to Late 2018 in the USA. I would suggest that if you have not ordered the vehicle already - you will be waiting a year or longer to get one - after that date.

However 21" snow tires are available - even high speed ones - now.

I really wonder what VW spent in development costs to get this Lambo out the door? $500 million or $1 Billion?

How do they recoup those costs on a freshly engineered vehicle (sharing platform with Touareg, Bentayga, Q7 et al). Lambo sold 3,815 vehicles in 2017.

Assuming the Uranus "DOUBLES" Bentley's sales and sells 3,800 Urani per year for 7 years, thats a run of 26,600 and at development costs of $500 million - $20,000 per vehicle in amortized up front "hard" costs incurred 2015-2018.

Expect the requisite breathy headlines "Uranus Doubles Lambo Sales" !

Bentley sold about 5,000 Bentayga's WW in 2017 (I can't find the exact number though 1,152 were sold in the US) - does the Uranus cannibalize those sales?

Curious to see how this goes.
