DRIVEN + VIDEO: The All-new Genesis G70 Has ARRIVED, But What’s Consumer Reports’ FIRST Impression Like?
As previously mentioned here, I know that Consumer Reports catches a lot of flack from the Spies. Some say it should stick to reviewing toasters.

I’ve got to say though, for the most part, this team is on the money with many of my findings. In addition, you have to remember that this publication is speaking for the majority of buyers that aren’t enthusiasts.

Its opinion holds water for MANY shoppers.

That said, I knew when it reviewed the all-new Genesis G70 that we’d have to post something up. That’s because after Agent 001 and I spent more time around the G70 at the 2018 New York Auto Show, we were a bit perplexed.

Mostly because I was lukewarm on the G70 while 001 was not having it at all. From the exterior styling to the interior appointments, there’s some good and some bad. Ultimately though, we’re a bit curious: How does it drive?

In this clip, Consumer Reports gets some wheel time with the all-new G70 and weighs in on what it’s really like.

What do YOU think, Spies?

The Genesis brand has become a favorite of Consumer Reports members, with solid road test scores and owner satisfaction. Now, the Hyundai-owned luxury nameplate wants to shake up the mid-sized luxury sedan segment with its all-new G70, by offering a similar upscale experience to the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 for thousands of dollars less.

Still another Wanna be car - that simply does not have the prestige or the reputation to succeed against the intended targets .

As a result - unless it is priced A LOT less than the others - it makes no difference how "good" it is - UNLESS it sets a completely new standard in the segment - it is simply the car for those who cannot afford the real thing

I'd love to have one for six months. The snobs can sneer, but the Stinger is definitely a great predictor of how good this car will be. You can drive the premium Camry (3 Series), Oldsmobile (A4), or even the class leader for excellence the C Class and look like every other douche bag that has one, or you could get a G70 and demonstrate that you think for yourself.

The G70 2.0T sport still comes as a RWS and a 6sp manual. This is a great value and if it performs it will be a winner in my mind. In Canada, BMW has given up on this spec of a car. They are all Xdrive automatics. I still enjoy driving and the brand is secondary. I recognize a good car when I see it.

As a package the G70 sport is a winner and much better styling than the Stinger.

KInd of generic looking for me. If I was not too concerned for reliability I'd take my chances on a Guilia. Much prettier car, more power in the base model and probably better handling. That G70 with the 3.3 turbo V6 is probably going for well over 50K!
