If you've never watched a vehicle do a top speed run, it is actually a bit more involved than finding the right smooth road and simply gunning it. There's actually rules to how you go about doing it.

And, I am pretty sure the folks at the Guiness Book of World Records are the ones who initiated it as the need for speed continues to grow.

First off, you must do two runs: One in one direction and then a second in the opposite direction. This is to account for the wind. Then, you average you two speeds for your claimed top speed.

The folks at General Motors' Chevrolet division decided to do it themselves to display just how fast its all-new monster is. Set in Germany at the Papenburg bowl circuit, watch below as the top speed is set for the 2019 Corvette ZR1.

ANd we can expect a mid-engine version to be even faster and better handling as well too -

However - at some point - the desirability of a car is not just measured by its straight line performance - especially in a mass produced vehicle. The performance of most Current Ferraris - even if they cannot reach this high speed- is - as Royce Royce would say - "Sufficient". Only those who want the current fastest will really care above 200MPH
