2 Years And $300 Million In Extra Costs The 2019 RAM 1500 Is Still Way Behind Schedule
Quality and supply problems plaguing the redesigned Ram 1500 pickup's launch are not enough to make Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne spend the night on the factory floor, a la Tesla's Elon Musk.

"I'm not sleeping on the floor," Marchionne said during the company's earnings call last week. "You need to be Elon's age to do that. I'm too old for that crap."

But Marchionne, 65, is not above spending more than $300 million to fix the problems that have put the 2019 truck's ramp-up well behind schedule.

Just like FORD - FCA has also failed to keep up with current developments in the Car Industry - IE - a small set of Scalable Platforms for all cars. Most of their cars are build on ancient platforms - at least one from when Chrysler got a leftover from Mercedes - even attempt to be the base for most of the Super cars as well as full size cars it produces.

I do not see any effort to actually start working on such platforms as well. And as their products continue to age - sales will eventually be affected.

Given that the new Ram is not literally all-new, I fail to see why there are any glitches. That there are glitches warns of dire days ahead at FCA. Time to find a buyer for Jeep and Ram while they are still worth a lot.

FCA should sell RAM to Hyundai. They will make it right.

Jeep and Ram make perfect sense for Hyundai to buy as would Dodge. A Challenger and Charger pulled from the Genesis G80 or G70 would be infinitely better than something off the horrid Giulia.
