SPIED: As The Ford Bronco And Land Rover Defender Get Brought Back To Life, GM Enters The Fray With THIS...
As if we cannot emphasize it enough, it's clear that more sport-utility vehicles are on the way. And, to be more specific, they're going to be more badass.

That's because legendary nameplates, such as the Ford Bronco and Land Rover Defender, will be getting resurrected.

It turns out they won't be the only ones. That's because General Motors Chevrolet division will be bringing back the Blazer. It's a name we haven't seen in quite some time but recent spy pictures we've obtained show an all-new SUV being developed.

In addition, some internal leaks have pointed to the Blazer name being brought back from the dead.

Put that together with these spy shots of a more boxy-looking GM and, voila, you've got yourself a first look at the all-new Blazer.

So, what say you, Spies? Is THIS a good start from GM or do these first shots indicate that it may be a bit too soft for your liking? Does this Chevrolet need to be TOUGHER?

...Either way, Chevy’s upcoming midsize crossover has been spied undergoing testing several times before. It will slot between the compact Equinox and full-size Traverse in terms of size and price. In fact, it will feature nearly identical dimensions to the 2017 GMC Acadia, and – like the Acadia – will offer two rows of seating, with the third row being available as an option. Styling is expected to be influenced by the Chevrolet FNR-X...

I never realized how large the Traverse has become. It's a full 10 inches longer than an Acadia. There is a huge gap between the Equinox and Traverse that needs to be filled by the Blazer.

The Traverse did not grow. The second gen Acadia shrunk in size to compete more with the Pilot and Explorer.

Yes Jeffgall is correct about the Acadia

The new Blazer is actually simply a new Acadia - with Chevy styling. THe same Crossover is THE Enclave - which is imported from China Currently. THe same platform also makes the Cadillac XT5 as well.

While the crossovers are generally good - they are nothing special to write about - the Four Cylinder engine is not enough power - and they are a little on the Narrow side for three across seating.

They compete with the Ford Explorer - and while the Explorer is on an old platform - it competes well against these GM crossovers. Unless GM makes some type of change to the Blazer - it will be no better than middle of the pack

@TomM Get your facts straight. The ENVISION not the Enclave comes from China.

No reason to compete with the Jeep Wrangler -

Obviously the entry level division of GM needs a mid-size SUV - to compete with the Explorer. WHile - as I said - the basis for these are not that exciting - the profitability of using an existing platform supports this.

Thanks, jeffgall for the correction. I thought the Traverse was the same length as the old Trailblazer.

TomM: Why does it still matter that GM is using a shared platform for the different CUV's. Logically & logistically makes perfect sense. GM knows it's consumers - while the XT5 & Acadia are nice, some just won't buy it unless it's a Chevy & vise-versa & so forth.

VW/Audi/Toyota/Honda/Nissan/Hyundai/etc...everybody is now admitting that they need to do the very thing GM has been criticized for doing for decades. Toyota/Lexus is probably the worst example of the exterior design (crimes) today.

The Blazer should be an SUV based on the Colorado--i.e. a real SUV--rather than an Acadia with a Chevy badge. This looks much too softroader.

No, dimwit. The obvious answer is to compete with the Jeep Wrangler.

@Darringer. Having owned a ZR2 manual tranny Blazer one based on the Colorado is an excellent idea. I have a 4x4 Tahoe for rough duty for my dogs but miss the ZR2..... A real SUV.

I'd rather have a Bronco (assuming) or a Wrangler pickup, but I think a butch Blazer would sell VERY well.

It's gotta be a Wrangler/Bronco competitor, but leave it to GM to ruin the name with another vanilla mall cruiser.

Chevy Blazer?

Would they bring back the Trailblazer name?
