Mercedes Keeps Their Head Above Water With A 1.% Increase In April Sales

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported April sales of 27,207 units, an increase of 1.0% from the 26,932 vehicles sold during the same time period last year. Mercedes- Benz Vans reported best-ever April sales of 2,815 units (up 28.4%) and smart reported 93 units, bringing MBUSA to a grand total of 30,115 vehicles for the month (up 2.1%). "April sales are leading us into a solid second quarter," said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. "We continue to see strong demand for our SUVs, and our increasingly diverse product line up will continue this momentum as we enter into the summer months."

Mercedes-Benz volume leaders in April included the GLC, C-Class and GLE model lines. The GLC took the lead at 5,853, followed by C-Class sales of 5,148. The GLE rounded out the top three with 4,110 units sold.

Mercedes-AMG high-performance models sold 2,707 units in April, with a total of 10,326 units sold year-to-date.

Separately, Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) models recorded sales of 9,294 vehicles in April, compared to 9,874 vehicles sold during the same month last year. On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 39,035 vehicles, a decrease of 3.3% over 2017 (40,352).

The GLC continues to lead its segment impressively and the GLA is going very strong as well.

Wow did Mercedes really scare all their rivals from sharing full line up sales breakdowns lol. Everyone is giving summaries/press releases, while Benz shows the numbers and drops the mic lol.

Most impressive is they technically have the oldest lineup of SUVs out in an SUV world yet have a lineup so solid they remain the top selling lux make...

It's what the agents choose to publish. The model breakdowns are always available.

The new C-class refresh impacted sales of that model.

E-Class never really took off but 5, GS and A6 are not doing any better either.

CLA and GLA, did MB gave them away? I'm having a GLC as a rental now since my BMW was rear ended. Although it is a stripped down GLC, must say it is a very well rounded vehicle. Right size, adequate power, enough MB's touch, I can imagine a well equipped GLC would be a lot better, and the GLC43 would be my choice of compact CUV.

Mercedes will absolutely kill it next year when all SUV's will either have full redesigns, refreshes and new model introductions.

I have no doubt. Not because MB is that superior, evidently GLC is the middle of the pack, not value or high tech like Q5, or handling like X3; and GLE is essentially a dinosaur, GLA is the Infinity Q30, GLS is well just old, yet they still sold well all because of the three pointed stars logo. The demographics don't know any better.

Exactly which Mercedes sold in the U.S. is a rebadged Nissan? Using the word "more" would imply there is already such a vehicle.

The CLA is largely a Renault Megane.

Aren't the GLA's engine is essentially Infinity Q30?

The CLA only uses a Renault engine...specifically the 1.5l and 1.6l. Neither are sold in the U.S.

I'll stick by my original statement that there are no vehicles sold in the US that have any Nissan/Renault platforms or engines in contradiction to Aspy11's post. Its true that outside of the U.S. the Mercedes X Class is based on the Nissan Navaro but my original post was in regards to the attached sales numbers which have to do with the U.S. sales only. Also, the Infiniti Q30 is a rebadged Mercedes GLA but again my original post in this thread had to do with rebadged Nissan's sold as Mercedes and this is the other way around.
