Ford Takes A Page From The Germans, Wants A Performance Version For Every Model
Ford recently announced it would be killing off all non-SUV models, excluding the Mustang and Focus Active. In response to the news, the enthusiast community let out a shriek of pain when it realized this would soon mean the end of fun models like the Focus ST and RS. Ford doesn't want to abandon enthusiasts, which is why the recent reveal of the Edge ST is starting to make sense. Though they may not be quite as nice to drive as their hot hatchback predecessors, ST-branded SUVs are going to be a part of Ford's future.

Huh? Asked if anyone would pay extra for performance Lincoln, then reconsider doing this for FORD. Ford is a truck company, and their decision was already made.

Well, Mercedes has a quasi-AMG and a true-AMG model for every SUV in their lineup from the GLA45 up to the G63 (the G doesn't have a G43, though). BMW has true-M X5 and X6, and the M40i. Audi has the SQ5 and I'm sure will have an SQ3 with the new redesign, and released an SQ7 overseas.

I'm all for performance editions, but "ST" sounds like a tire losing air whereas "SVT" sounds like "something".

The uproar of Ford not making "cars" anymore, crossovers are largely raised up hatchbacks, so drop the suspension of an Escape down and you have something not unlike Focus.

I'm not a fan of the big black hole styling of the face though.

Remember - this ALSO means - for the most part - some type of Turbo V6 at the most.

It is obvious for the cars they will be producing (Will the Lincoln cars continue - I have not seen or asked) that a performance version of each already exists.

Now - explain how to react to a PERFORMANCE Lincoln MKT ?

The MKT is dead and has been alive pretty much only for livery. Dealers rarely stocked them. The Aviator has replaced it. Given that the Explorer will likely have an Interceptor version, the performance Lincoln could be lovely.

How about the Maverick with a Boss 302?
