BMW's 2019 8 Series Convertible Interior REVEALED! Is It What You Were Expecting?

BMW has done a pretty good job in keeping some of the design elements and oily bits of the new 8-Series family a secret so far.

Nevertheless, a set of images, shared by Wilcoblok on Instagram reveal the interior design of the posh Convertible. And, for the first time, there isn’t any camouflage to keep parts of the dashboard away from our eyes.

If you love buttons, this car will do the trick.

Buttons means options. I like options.

I also like a huge center screen - like whats in the new Ram - but thats a bigger vehicle. Critics will complain that options are only available using the info/nav touchscreen. I guess we must remember that BMW still (wants to) make cars for the driving experience.

Probably the same guy in here bitching about the Tesla Model 3 not having enough buttons in it.

I like the red leather trim, but that's about it.

Wow, this is unfortunate. Not a single f*ck given for the sake of style and design, zero inspiration.

Could be more stylish. I do like buttons and knobs in distinct locations and distinct feel for key functions though. It is crazy to have to take your eyes off the road for common things you do while driving such as to adjust the fan speed or radio functions.

Is it what I was expecting? Yeah, and that's the problem.

This continues BMW's strategy of button-loaded interiors. Meanwhile, Audi and Porsche are moving away from the button-heavy interiors to the touch-screen format.

?? HUH ??

4-Series, 6-Series, or 8-Series? They are all about the same size inside and have similar performance - so why not just sell the 4-series?

Driving-wise, its probably the best of the bunch anyway.

If some people are willing to give you LOTS more money for a 6 series - or an 8 series - wouldn't you take it too?

Yeah...but not many people are giving them money for the 6 series and probably even less for the 8 series. The $100K +++ luxo-coupe/cab segment is quite a dead one, with not enough volume to perhaps even make recovery of the tooling/dev costs to be a challenge.

Not a fan of them moving the start/stop button, but that goes for any car company that puts it on the console.

That button will eventually go away permanently. EV's don't need it, you just site and put the car in gear.

I may be a contrarian but I love buttons. Once you get the hang of them in a new car you never have to take your eyes off the road, unlike touch screens or shifting thru various menus.

I think that is still the popular opinion. I did realize a few weeks back that hit the wrong action on the touchscreen after hitting a speed bump, but still overall like a big screen over a bunch of buttons. Voice controls will help on bumpy roads in the future.

That's it?

This is coming from someone who is frequently the lone defender of the 7-Series' interior design against that of the S-Class, but this is just so plain.

It's certainly very functional and efficient and logical; the buttons are good to see rather than a bunch of touch controls, or some other gimmicky plaything.

But, this is your big bad flagship luxury super-coupe to go up against the S-Class 2-door, and maybe knock on the door of Aston Martin and Bentley? That's all you're bringing?

Maybe it looks better in person...stay positive...

Agree. The VFL concept interior was what I had in mind. Integrated info. screen in the dash, rather than the attached "tablet" screen. Recent X7 interior pictures also show a tablet, not the concepts dash. Wait and see.

Oh, for goodness sakes. No one said (besides Nuttie) there's anything wrong with buttons. The problem is when those buttons are packaged in something that looks like it came straight from a model from the 80's. When I am expecting to pay an easy six-figure amount for a car, I want more than this and so should anyone else.
