Fan or Foe? Does This Individual BMW M Color Do It For You? Or NAH?
Quick? What will you fuss over more? Choosing the next vehicle you'll buy or the color combo you'll choose for it?
Do you go classic or take a chance on a newer color that will either become a fan favorite in the future or be relegated to the 'what were they thinking' debate at future sightings? If you're like us, that's a discussion that could go on for a long time in your favorite watering hole or among friends in the neighborhood.
Color makes such a big difference not only because how it makes you feel when you see your baby but also for future resale.
And even after you decide, you still rehash the decision every time you see another one pass you by on the road.
So let's have that back and forth with this color I saw today in San Diego on the latest BMW M4 coupe.
The color we spied today was the individual Champagne Quartz Metallic with a gorgeous saddle style interior leather.

As you can see from the pics, light does marvelous things to its curves and angles.
So are you a fan or a foe of this choice this customer made?
And if you were buying, which combo would you choose?
We're also going to show some of the many choices you may consider with photos below from our 2018 Bimmerfest Preview galllery which happens later this month.

Never cared for a weak silver with brown highlight flakes.

When I choose a car, I've always custom-ordered it to my requirements. It's a "whole package" thing for me, rather than "the best off the lot."
I prefer understated and elegant styling over flashy. As much as the Pininfarina Ferraris were gorgeous, I prefer the classic lines of a Porsche 911 (991.2 body style), or a Roll-Royce Dawn, than trendy designs like today's Lexus or the "flurry of hexagons" Lambos, or the "I Am The Future i8.
As for colors, I'm definitely into the darker blues, like Porsche's Night Blue, or BMW's old Montreal Blue. I find the idea of a custom gray paint job to be funny. And matte paint reminds me of primer, so a big "no" from me.
Does anyone actually care what Steve likes in a car? I thought so :-) Carry on! Must be a slow day at AutoSpies.

I care :) when you have to live with it every day an odd color can be tiring on the eyes. I chose carbon black for the 850 I am working on (black with a hint of blue). The original color was diamond black which looks like a dull gray to me. Unfortunately I won’t be pulling the motor just yet so the engine compartment will still show some of the old ds black. I did order an Alpina hood and will get the Alpina pin striping done minus the Alpina name on the front quarter panel. So some flash in my Alpina tribute build.

Glossy paint is more durable than Semi-or Matte - so I too would not choose that. Since I do not currently live in the deep south - choosing a dark color was always my preference - and I preferred non-metalic because they are easier to match - and easier to rub out minor imperfections. I always had at least one Dark Blue or Black car. I also clear-coated my cars from earlier than the manufacturers did - for a longer shine.
However - When I do live in the deep South(WHen I am getting older) - I expect I will want a white or lighter colored car - to reflect the heat better. WHite cars have also always been easier for me to wax.

I've seen a similar M4 in this color, the pictures do not do it justice, it really is a great color. I don't think I'd order it on my M4, but it glistens in the sunlight and is a great color for the car.

Yup. Your first clue were the pictures of whores and drug dealers. Your second clue was the German cars decked out the JC Whitney styling "improvements".
