NTSB To Investigate Fiery Tesla Crash That Killed Two Teens
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board said on Wednesday it will investigate a Tesla accident in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this week that killed two teenagers and injured another -- the agency's fourth active probe into crashes of the company's electric vehicles.

The NTSB said it was sending a team of four to investigate Tuesday's crash of a 2014 Tesla Model S that was reportedly traveling at high speed when it struck a wall and caught fire. The agency said it does not believe the Tesla's semi-autonomous Autopilot system will be part of the investigation.

Were the teens in ludicrous mode by any chance?

"Parents, don't let your kids drive stupidly".

Fixed it for you. He had already been ticketed for driving stupidly, and it looks like he didn't learn. Has nothing to do with driving a Tesla.

@atc98092 I suspect they were out jackbutting around. This could have just as easily happened in a Civic. If Tesla's Autokill was not engaged, then my theory would be unsafe driving.

Actually - this was established to be a HIGH SPEED crash - something that is unlikely to have the Autopilot involved - and the report says it was NOT.

However - even TESLA warns in their Owners manuals about a fire hazard with the Batteries in High Speed Crashes. I suspect the NTSB is investigating THAT. THe article says that they are looking into the Fire department response. Obviously - the NTSB does not have a mountain of data about EV car crash fires to make decisions.

Could be some political motivation in this. Musk gave the NTSB the bird so now Tesla will get some extra attention. "Never poke the bear."

Translation: Parents do not let kids who cannot drive and have a crazy relationship with risktaking drive powerful cars.

And, 56, spare us with your deathtrap bs.
