GONE ROGUE: Automakers Now Fear Lawsuits From California If They Follow Federal Law
American automakers may be on a mission impossible when they visit the White House on Friday.

They want to persuade President Donald Trump to cooperate with Jerry Brown, the Democratic governor of California, who invoked biblical references when calling the Trump administration’s proposal to roll back auto efficiency regulations “profoundly dangerous.”

Top executives of General Motors, Honda Motor Co., Toyota Motor Corp., Ford Motor Co. and other companies are scheduled to meet Trump to discuss trade and environmental standards enacted by the Obama administration.

Jerry Brown is a psychopath. If anything, the Trump administration should be gunning to bitch slap Sacramento back into line.

Triggering idiot liberals is so easy and they take the bait EVERY time. Liberals are as bright as Chihuahuas. And Chihuahuas bark at anything because they are dumb as bricks.

There is no real free market system - it is just a system that does what one set of politicians want - instead of what others want. A true free-market would have NO minimum requirements -something you would not want the next time you need to brake.

The EPA - which is a republican invention - was put together to address Pollution of various types - including air. Consumers in California have LOTS of choices of different cars that can meet the standards required in that state - and since ALL of them must do so - there is no competitive advantage to any particular one - the market is open - ALL of the cars that can meet the requirements are allowed to be sold. In the past - there was a time when cars that met California Emissions standards were separate from the rest of the USA - BUT today - for at least the multi-nationals - it makes no sense producing a less efficient car for the rest of the usa - when european standards for pollution are approaching those of california - especially in the cities.

AS far as tariffs - that is still another issue - money and currency manipulation has virtually nothing to do with the actual products involved - but gives a competitive advantage because of exchange rates. That is not a level playing field - it gives a major pricing advantage to some countries over our product.

Thankfully - Matt - again your opinion of the mental health of a person comes with no medical training and knowledge regarding the issue. EVEN if you are comparing your own problems with Mr. Brown - it is not a valid comparison - so Logical thinking people of all political persuasions simply IGNORE it as a rant from an idiot.

ANd also Thankfully - MR Trump is still only the president of the United States - he is not a dictator - and in fact unless it is in the Constitution for the president to have power - the power (AS stated in an amendment to the constitution) rests with the STATE involved. THe fact is - Trump surely has a way with crude words - but in fact Mr.Brown has the upper hand politically in California. Maybe you ought to consider actually reading the constitution - to note reality is NOT what Mr.Trump thinks!

There are people who believe in the free market system, so let's try it on for size:

American Automakers: You get to make your vehicles as polluting and as fuel inefficient as you want. But you don't get taxpayer money if you suffer. And California doesn't get to sue you.

California: You get to buy whatever cars you want. If American cars are too dirty and inefficient, you can always buy foreign.

And let's get rid of tariffs. They're so 20th Century. Let Americans buy what they want. If they love American cars, then American automakers will prosper. If Americans prefer other's products, then maybe there's a lesson to learn for American automakers.

Your commentary shows ZERO understanding of free market. What you described is actually a predatory and biased market.
