Acura To Give Type R Treatment To NSX - Will THAT Boost Sales That Have Been On Life Support?
The second-generation NSX should has been on sale for a couple of years now, but its sales haven’t been very encouraging. To keep the Japanese supercar relevant, rumors have suggested that Acura is plotting a lighter, more powerful Type R version of the NSX. In fact, there’s been talk about the Acura NSX Type R since the 2015 Detroit Auto Show before the standard car even went on sale. Earlier this year, rumors of the NSX getting the Type R treatment were reignited by Acura’s vice president and general US manager Jon Ikeda.

Drop all of the hybrid crap and do a massive price cut and it might begin to trickle sales.

The NSX II is the wrong car at the wrong price.

It's a vehicle adored by Honda/Acura fans, and they're usually not in the market to buy a $157,800 car. It's also chock-full of video-game-like whiz-bangery; something adored by gamers and the "tech for tech's sake" crowd, but those folks don't typically buy $157,800 cars.

If the NSX II had a sticker price of $70,000 (I know, ridiculous for what the car is), it would be relevant. As the NSX II stands today, it fails in sales, and it fails even as a Halo Car. This statement stands, even with the additional "R" fixins.

I agree.I'd go so far as to say the NSXII should have been aimed at the Corvette.

A simpler car like the S2000 in coupe and convertible would have been enough.

No - the NSX is too expensive already - adding more and adding onto the price will not help much.

LOVE ALL THE SO-CALLED CAR GUYS on here who think the car should be cheaper. Still stuck in the late 90s, much!

Unfortunately, the NSX front strongly resembles the $20,000 compact Civic.
Poor design planning, Acura.

i drove the NSX, and absolutely loved it. theres no question its worth more than a corvette and definitely worth 100k . what it isnt worth, is anything over 110-115 for the loaded carbon fiber version .
im just wondering one thing, where are the 2018's ?? has anyone even seen them being sold ? have they stopped making the car because all the ones for sale online seem to be 2017.
also, that 30,000 discount at this point is a scam .... the car is a year old !! it would drop 30k by default. so the 150k cars should be 120 minus further depreciation ... somewhere around the 110k mark for a brand new 2017 nsx. the numbers are still way too expensive !

Maybe they should put the butt ugly "pentagon grille" on it - to quicken its demise.
