Austin Or BUST! The Agents Give You A DETAILED, Up Close And Personal Look At The 2019 Hyundai Veloster
Finding himself in the lone star state, Agent 001 touched down in Austin to kick off this week. Arriving to drive the new 2019 Hyundai Veloster, he prepared to drive what is considered the most sporting Hyundai of the product portfolio — excluding the N cars.

So, how did Hyundai do?

Well, we can't give you that level of detail yet. That's because driving impressions are currently being held under embargo. That said, Hyundai didn't say a word about photos. So, in typical AutoSpies tradition, we're sharing with you the lot.

There's around 350 snaps from this trip, so, don't hesitate to explore the AutoSpies gallery. There's plenty more where these came from.

I really dislike the rear third of this car.

The exhaust pipes are nice. The rest of this disjointed mess makes my eyes bleed.

The Veloster was a strangely styled vehicle that inexplicably sold fairly well for a niche coupe. This one is a huge step forward stylistically without abandoning the strangeness. Given Hyundai's ambitions with its "N" performance line, the Veloster has an excellent chance to be yet another reason not to buy a GTI.

Exactly!

You can get a fun car for ~$20k street price for what would cost approximately $25-28k elsewhere.

With excellent build quality and admirable reliability thrown in.

I like that cool name...Veloster. Why didn't Cadillac grab it first.

Cadillac's too busy using indecipherable names like CT6 and XT4.

Meh, will be a decent first car for high school kids as they are learning to drive.

The Veloster N should out perform a GTI and a Focus ST. The Euro 4dr Hatch has gotten pretty good reviews. The build quality looks good. Hyundai and Kia are certainly more on par now with the Jap cars and they seem to have improved on suspension ride and handling. Its a little bit of a quirky looking car but certainly more interesting than "origami Box" Golf GTI. Interior quality also seems nicer than a Civic's.

It kind of feels the void from the Sirocco that VW refused to send to us.

The projected base price of the Scirocco for the USA was $40K and that is why dealers soundly rejected. That and the fact that it looked like a flabby GTI and not a Scirocco.
