China Caves To Trump Pressure - Slashing Import Tariffs Starting July 1st
China will steeply cut import tariffs for cars and components, the country's finance ministry said, opening up greater access to the world's largest auto market amid an easing of trade tensions with the U.S.

Import tariffs will be cut to 15 percent for most vehicles from 25 percent starting July 1, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement, adding this was part of efforts to open China's markets and spur development of the local auto sector. A small number of imported trucks are now taxed at 20 percent.

This idiot does not know how to negotiate at all. The carefully negotiated and written TPP addressed the bigger concern which is IP and allowed the US to write the rules. By pulling out he has delivered our trading partners into the hands of China. US automakers largely manufacture in China so the tariffs are symbolic but Drumpf and his fascist followers will declare victory although there is no victory here. Now Drumpf wants back into the TPP. Too late.

Agent009, how does this fool know how to negotiate? He does not honor commitments and has gained nothing, in fact has lost ground by tearing up existing agreements, making the US an unreliable partner in the eyes of the rest of the world.
China supposedly agreed to buy $200 billion of US goods?!? Of what, apples, corn? They cannot buy another $200 billion. The bigger structural issue is IP and Drumpf has given this up so the he can call Fox and Friends and say he won?

That "Fool" as you label him took $200M of Fred Trumps (Dad) money and NEGOTIATED it to a $4 Billion empire and growing. And what exactly is your CV?

Now to debunk your next moronic statement -bailing out ZTE was a BRILLIANT move on Trumps part as without the American tech -there was no more company and hence the company announced it was shutting down . Why wouldn't Trump save the day and numerous jobs for Americans for foreign sold products? This also puts him in a better spot to negotiate more amicable trade terms with Beijing.

Try actually reading if you are able to rather than getting all your Libtard sound bites from Clinton News Network. Bitch lost by the way so grow up and get over it.

Hey Aspy11, how is the US more successful than it was 18 months ago before Drumpf almost won the election? He has mainly just torn up agreements the US has signed, pissed off our allies, attacked his own DOJ for doing their job, ignored the constitution and signed a budget adding trillions of dollars to the debt while doing nothing to structurally change the economy. US equities were on a 7 year bull market before he was inaugurated, so this did not change.

So, what metric are you using to say he is successful?

You get rid of agreements that are not in the best interest of all. Then you update with a better balanced agreement. That is the real world.

ya china is rolling over and playing dead, give me a break. China is eating America's breakfast lunch dinner and midnight snack with what they make in interest holding US debt bonds. Sadly the US debt that everyone chooses to ignore only makes China even stronger on every level. ( no I am not pro China either )

Comedy Central is almost as funny as Fox, except they have more facts.
The US and our western allies have enjoyed increasing wealth, political stability, and international influence due the western alliance that work with each other. Drumpf has thrown all of this away.
Tell me, be specific, but what has Drumpf done that has improved the USA, aside from saying it repeatedly.
Cut taxes for the top 1 percent? check. Thrown out long negotiated treaties thus damaging US reputation in the world? check. Abandoned the TPP and JCPOA without any alternatives.
BS, Drumpf is making the US and the world worse off.

@truthy- you may want to actually read the US Constitution.

Please refer to “The Treaty Clause is part of Article II, Section 2, Clause 2, of the United States Constitution, that empowers the President of the United States to propose and chiefly negotiate agreements between the United States and other countries, which, upon receiving the advice and consent of a two-thirds supermajority vote of the United States Senate, become treaties under international law.”

TPP and JCPOA along with the Paris Climate Treaty were never even presented to the Senate for advice and consent, yet alone voted upon. President Obama unilaterally agreed to the treaties, which he didn’t have the power or authority to do. Much like the creation of the DACA program which President Obama openly admitted he didn’t have the power to institute, but he did it anyway. So President Trump terminated agreements that was never legally approved in accordance with theUS Constitution.

Butthurt Libtards such as yourself just can't get over the fact that Trump is doing a great job and is the best POTUS since Regan. Just imagine if he had his own party working with him rather than against him like that sack of shit McCain and other establishment swamp dwellers whom really has bilked the hero thing 39 years too long now...Time for term limits or you get the current corrupt regime serving their own interests rather than the peoples.

Trump has done what no other Head of State has yet been able to do and that is to get China to drop or reduce trade tariffs. Commerce with China is a 1 way street unless you have a raw resources that they need to make and sell finished product back to us. China is my second home and I understand the mindset of how they operate and Trump has played his cards masterfully.

As a Canadian I am also watching many big companies here looking to relocate to the US or expand there rather than this Libtard Shithole and so am I once I can unload my property. Bottom line is the US wins at the expense of Canada and our inept leadership and this is exactly what a good leader should be doing as the US owes us nor the world for that matter nothing.

I had no idea this website was so thoroughly pro-GOP. Right down to the ad hominem attacks against people with different viewpoints. ("Libtards"? Really?) Anyway, when there is no much heat and little light, I tend to go hunting for facts. This tariff concession from China doesn't seem to amount to much. It appears that the vast majority of vehicles sold in China are made in China. For example, Ford itself reported that between January to October of 2017 (I am not sure why it only reported numbers for three fiscal quarters) Ford sold 939,000 cars in China, but only 2% of those were imported.

Most American branded cars sold in China are made by US automakers in "joint-venture" factories in China. In other words, they have to partner up with some Chinese entity (run by the Chinese military maybe) and share their IP. The TPP was supposed to help us protect our IP, but that ain't happening anymore. (Whether the TPP would have been that helpful is up for debate, it seems, but it could have been better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.)

Finally, let's also recognize that there was no timeline provided in the Chinese announcement. The Chinese have in the past announced concessions but haven't seemed to get around to implementing them. I wonder why? (That question was satirical in case you missed it.)

Anyway, it is a shame that we all seem so ready to try to score political points against one another. Just saying.

So many uninformed say Trump has done great things, but cannot name anything. The China "concession" as stated above amounts to little or nothing. They are playing to Trump's ego and ignorance of the facts. Same problem on the Iran deal. Yosemite Sam Bolton and Pompous are great at talking tough, but this means little in the real world. All of the US and Israel intelligence agencies support the JOPACA and do the 7+ nations that signed this.
And to Agent009 saying it is simple, you just get rid of bad agreements and make a better one. This is so clueless. It took 4 years and coordination of all couuntires that signed it to get this done. Now China and Russia will not agree to sanctions going forward. How then to get a better deal?
And Reagan was not a great president.

Watch how fast they abandon doing business with Iran when they have to make a choice between access to the Iranian market or the US market and its banking system.

Nothing compared to the impact on the economies of China and Russia. It will never come to that, they will yell and scream and pretend they are standing up to the US and its evil President. But the fact of the matter is companies are already scaling back their investments in Iran as not to effect their business in the US. For the most part companies and countries are learning very quickly that Trump is not a typical politician and he will follow through on proclamations. Ask the members of NATO that are obliged to contribute 2% of the budget to defense but have been given a pass for years. They are now all under serious pressure to actually meet their obligations.
