BMW And Mercedes Benefit Most From Trump's "Play Fair" Policies Against China

BMW And Mercedes Benefit Most From Trump's

Two of the biggest beneficiaries of US president Donald Trump's drive to get China to "play fair" on trade are wealthy Chinese people and German automakers, such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

On Tuesday, China confirmed that it plans to lower tariffs on imported passenger cars to 15 percent, from 25 percent. There was a time when this would have been huge news for foreign automakers. But most, including General Motors and Ford, have long since established extensive local production there. Tesla is the exception.

there is no real incentive for Chinese to buy American cars as imports. Any American car they really want is made there, same goes for Europe, nothing special about American cars, so good to see others benefit from lower tarrifs.
See, Trump IS a globalist haha

Trump's complete ignorance of any facts is shocking. He will once again claim victory where there is none and his uneducated base will eat it up. The impeachment cannot happen fast enough.

@Agent009: Reposted, because I see this applies to you as well...

"Donald Trump, champion and avatar of the shallow state, has won power because his supporters are threatened by what they don't understand, and what they don't understand is almost everything. Indeed, from evolution to data about our economy to the science of vaccines to the threats we face in the world, they reject vast subjects rooted in fact in order to have reality conform to their worldviews. They don't dig for truth; they skim the media for anything that makes them feel better about themselves. To many of them, knowledge is not a useful tool but a cunning barrier elites have created to keep power from the average man and woman."

It's evident that #45's China policies are all over the map. He campaigned about how China is taking American jobs, how China is the biggest con in history, how China is unfair.

The US government sanctions Chinese electronics manufacturer ZTE for selling devices here that spy on Americans.

Trump makes speeches about the horrors of jobs loss in China, and needing to help them, specifically ZTE.

You can't make this sh*t up, and yet Daffies will defend it -- this specific scenario, The Party, and The Leader -- to the end.

Oh, I forgot to mention:

1) #45 and his administration want to lift US sanctions against ZTE, who got into hot water for selling consumer devices in America that spy on Americans.

2) Although #45's official reason for this is to save jobs in China (huh?), pretend that there is no possibility of a Qatar/Kushner-style "coincidence" between lifting US sanctions and back-room deals/bribes.

3) Watch for denial, deflection, derision and down-votes in response to this post. That's significant because it shows you that Daffies are NOT for America, NOT for Americans. They're for Trumpism, in whatever form it may take. Hate China, impose sanctions on China from breaking US law? Fine. Cozy up to China the next day? Fine. It's all just part of an average day in Trumpville.

It's really happening. It's out in the open. And Daffies follow and support, with blind devotion to The Leader and The Party.

We live in interesting times!

@CarCrazedinCali: Yeah, I know. The followers have embraced their beliefs so tenaciously, with such conviction, that it manifests as "absolute devotion," the same thing you see in a religious cult.

Trump once said, and this is a literal quote, "I could shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters." He's right. His Believers' faith, their devotion, is so unwavering! It's sort of messianic... in a David Koresh sort of way.

He is also creating a constitutional crisis with his handling of the DOJ.
Agent009, impeach for what? How about obstruction of justice, collusion with Russia? A business partner of Cohen's just flipped. This will put more pressure on Cohen to do the same. Mueller is closing the net which is why Trump is acting even more erratic every day.

@Truthy: What you see consistency in interaction with Daffies. One presents verifiable facts, and what is a Daffy's response? Denial, deflection ("Whatabout-ism", e.g., "What about Hillary's emails?" or "What about Obama?"), derision, and laughably false statements/assertions.

We see this flowing like a torrent from the White House, The Republican Party, and The Prez. We know this, and we can verify this, thanks to the readily-available record of video-recorded statements, which we saw on the news, and which appear as a record of fact on YouTube, for anyone to see.

You also see the same happening here, on AutoSpies. See the posts of MDarringer, fiftysix, jazzyjazz, joneshamilton, qwertyfla1, and a handful of others, as prime examples of what I describe above.

I wear the down-votes as a "badge of honor"; as a testimony that the Daffies hate me :-) It's like being hated by Nazis: THANK YOU!!! :-D

Meanwhile, in a Steve Bannon speech, he tells Daffies (paraphrased): "...When someone calls you a racist, wear it as a badge of honor..."

Different people value different things.

Forget for a moment about trade, Trump and the 24hr news cycle. What is wrong in America is that since the end of the financial crisis, 54% of all corporate profits have been spent on stock buybacks. Apple alone is spending $100B USD to do so. This is a move to reduce the stocks being traded and artificially enhance your earnings per share without actually doing any work. Good for the board, good for shareholders, good for CEO's who want to keep their jobs, but bad for America. Better this money be spend on R+D, plants, retraining, equal wages for equal work, raises, pensions, etc...

For all you haters, stock buybacks were once prohibited until a rule change at the SEC in 1982 allowed them. Before then they were seen as they really are, a vehicle for stock price manipulation. Nothing like lobbyists to get things done for the benefit of the top 1% of the 1% in the good old USA. In 2018 something like $780B USD will be spent on them. Think about that. Roads, schools, clean water, reducing the national debt. So much could be accomplished for the greater good buy spending this money on other things.

Bach24 and you other trailer dwellers, what specifically has Drumpf done that has measurable improved anything. Be specific. And don't tell me the stock market as this was on a six year trajectory upward and it has not changed since he stole office.
Bottom line, he has done nothing but tell you he has and act angry, which from your posts above resonates with you. But he has done nothing.

People prefer imports, Chinese are no different. They prefer foreign made of the same brand over domestic. Mercedes makes the E class long wheelbase in China for China, but people are paying more to get the regular version that’s German made.

They love American cars too. Buick Enclave & Ford Raptor are like $100k over there and they sell very well.

American cars (Buick) are popular in central China especially Shanghai and Ningbo but not so much in the south (Guangdong Province) except Tesla which are very commonplace in Hong Kong -probably one of the biggest markets for them.
