DRIVEN: So, What's It Like To Drive Lamborghini's Most INTENSE Convertible, The Huracan Performante?
It used to be that if you opted for the more hardcore variant of an Italian exotic supercar, you only received a coupe. But, that all sort of changed in recent years.

That's because Ferrari and Lamborghini started producing its limited batches of lightweight, Alcantara-laden supercars without roofs. This meant the Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M was born as was the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder Performante.

The raging bull's latest auto in this vein is the Huracan Performante Spyder. So, what's it like?

Should I buy one?

I can only imagine how wonderful this must be. I've had a chance to drive a couple of Lamborghinis and they were tremendous fun. I wouldn't necessarily want to own one, but they are special.

To me here's the short review of the experiences I've had:

Lamborghini Aventador Roadster: It's like holding a firecracker in your closed hand — tremendously exciting but you just know it's not going to end well.

Huracan 610-4: Impressive but essentially just an Audi R8.

Huracan 580-2: Now that's what I am talking about — lively, fun and keeps you on your toes.

I've driven a Gallardo, Murcielago, Miura (briefly), and an Islero. All were fun.
