SPIED: Most Revealing Snaps Of The Next-gen BMW 3-Series EMERGE — Do YOU Like What You See, So Far?
The BMW 3-Series is one of the world's most recognized and respected luxury sport sedans. For decades it's largely been considered the benchmark in one of the most hotly contested categories.

There's just one problem as of late: There's a lot of competition and, frankly, they're starting to overtake BMW in the category it perfected. THINK: Audi has better technology, Mercedes has — overall — a better product and the Tesla Model 3 has everyone's attention.

So, now what?

Well, BMW better step up its game. Here's the thing though, it just may be too late already. With the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Tesla Model 3 making the 3-Series look like a snoozefest, BMW has to swing for the fences with its all-new 3'er from a product perspective.

But if you take a look at the latest spy shots, it doesn't appear that's what will be happening. Now that the heavy cladding has been removed, we're seeing the 3-Series in some pretty revealing images.

Let's hope the company really brings forward some jaw-dropping technology for the cockpit.

Looks more like a microscopic styling update than a new car.

BMW is going to have to do a lot more than tweaking the headlights and putting a little crease in sheet metal. The interior panels need a full update. The 3 series needs a NEW generation styling change and not a 'refreshing job.'

Completely agreed.

Given how sedans are dying on the vine, BMW really needed to be daring visually like a Kia Stinger or a Lexus LC500 rather than channeling a 2000 Camry 4 cylinder automatic's look. Sedans will now live and die on style as they face a declining market.

In the next generation, it would not surprise me if BMW replaced the 3 and 5 Series with a tweener.

What I find perplexing is Mercedes offering the A Class sedan, CLA, and C Class. They don't need 3 sedans.

Looks more like early test mules lacking production details. Look at the tail lights and limited lower front. Looks to be a capable camper vehicle for European spec.

It's amusing that people call for "a NEW generation styling change" for the 3-series and the 911, when customers have made it very clear they love these classic looks.

Customers do like the classic looks and I'm sure BMW has done global studies to optimize what the address in the next-gen, even though the result might be boring to the 2% of us who are on the cutting edge.

You are aware that BMW has a lot of money on the hood of each 3 Series, right?

Pay no attention at this point - this is nothing more than a concept car.

Acid?

This isn't a concept.

Did they fire all the designers and thinking management at BMW during one of their recent "circle meetings"? New 3 DOA... whatever edge BMW once had in style and engineering is now completely gone, this is a dead and dying brand... if this is the new 3 series and sales are in a free fall, did they expect an all new car that is indistinguishable from the old to stop the free fall? Will your neighbor will not be able to tell if you have a 2020 model or a 2014... unless they inspect the dashboard...Honestly it is so frustrating to watch such pompous arrogance from so few with a storied brand that is now run by committees and idiots... The BMW Board should have learned from GM, thinking you are always right dose not make it so.
