BMW Falls To Third Place In Most Valuable Automotive Brands Rankings

Toyota held on to its title as the world's most valuable car brand for the sixth year in a row while Mercedes-Benz passed BMW to finish No. 2 for the first time in the annual ranking. Tesla, meanwhile, increased its brand value 60 percent to get within striking distance of Audi.

Toyota's brand value increased 5 percent to nearly $30 billion because of strong demand for its SUVs in Europe and the United States and because of the automaker’s consistency, according to the BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands study released by market researcher Kantar Millward Brown.

Not as terrible as it sounds but still has to hurt.

"Tesla, meanwhile, increased its brand value 60 percent to get within striking distance of Audi." Propped up largely by Wall Street.

I haven't been to a Tesla store in a while, but walked by one yesterday and there were still tons of people in there lining up to play with the cars. This was despite it being the very first store to open and the Bay Area already being saturated with Teslas.

Tied with me (to the best of my recollection) at -12... and I had to goad the Daffies to get there. SanJoseDriver did it without solicitations. Kudos!

Autospies should make SanJoseDriver and TheSteve honorary Agents for inducing the most clicks. Brand Value of Autospies has increased by 60% by these two members alone. Kudos guys.

All of their cars are old except the Model Can't Make It Out the Plant. How are they increasing brand value. Oh Oh Oh, didn't they sale some flame throwers or something? They must have used one to threaten the creators of this ranking.

What the heck does "Most Valuable Automotive Brand" mean? It means nothing unless the brand is sold. It is click-bait. Click.

Marketers measure brand equity, and yes it is mostly subjective

aah, 009, always finding a way to turn every post into a dig on BMW. The title could’ve been “Mercedes vaults to #2” or “Tesla up 60%, nipping at Audi’s heels” or just “Auto brand rankings released”, but instead it’s “BMW falls” alongside that antagonistic image with BMW’s tagline crossed out. BMW was up 4% from last year btw. Benz was up 9%, which was enough to just barely overtake BMW. Great job to both brands. But hey, at least you’ll get your clicks.
