Alfa Wants To Bury The M3 Once And For All With 600HP GTV
Alfa Romeo’s GTV is a storied nameplate if there ever was one. The GTV, which stands for “Gran Turismo Veloce,” or Fast Grand Touring, has been an Alfa Spider, an Alfa Giulia, an Alfa Alfetta, and a Spider again. And now it’s back with a lot of power.

M4 is the coupe to beat not the M3 sedan, just saying.

So they're going to do it with a rebodied Charger?

Here is the platform playbook. As well the car will do fine. It is a coupe with 4 seats and 2 doors just like the M4.

The question remains - even if it DOES manage to beat the M cars - will people buy it instead. Over the years - Lots of cars were tested to beat the M cars - but most of them were flashes in the pan.

The question also remains as to whether Alfa can deliver a car with a consistently high build quality standard with better-than-German reliability.

The shoddy build quality of the Giulia along with the hit-and-miss reliability is not a sufficient enticement to drop $75K on the "Chargers" from Italy.

The Giulia Quadrapleggio beat BMW but then limp mode sets in and it's all over.

I have a Giulietta, never ever again and have put enough people off them that has probably cost Alfa more than if they actually did the decent thing and fixed mine and not charged me (Multi Air Unit failed a month out of warranty - on a regularly serviced car and it is a known fault/weekness - Since then lots of issues, all known faults).

MDarringer should look at the inside of my Giulietta, not sure most of the panels and trim is meant to fit, in places its ridiculous, never ever will touch an Alfa again.

Like most brands, they are trying to beat the M cars as they are being phased out. Then go back to the drawing board when the new M model comes out.

M3 isn't full of known problems that cost the owners money unlike a poxy Alfa.

I recently had to choose my next company car and one of my options was one the Giulias gathering dust on the lot because even with up to $10K on the hood, people aren't buying them. I usually have a car 3-6 months. The first Giulia I drove, a leftover2017, had the idiot lights greet me like Christmas. The second one did an engine hesitation and shudder randomly like it wanted to die, but couldn't.

My other choice was a Kia Stinger GT. The build quality of the Kia is worlds better. Alfas have all sorts of fit and finish problems if you look closely. Proper panel alignment is not a goal at Alfa. The Kia drives as well, is more compelling to look at, and won't have nightmarish reliability. So, for the next 6 months, I'm driving a blue Stinger.

The 2018 Giulias are "supposed" to be much better. Saying that though the Stinger is not as good looking as a Giulia it certainly has the better build quality.
