Rumour Mill: Is Chrysler Going to Be Sold?
Speculation about the Chrysler Group's future within DaimlerChrysler AG mounted Monday after a German magazine quoted an anonymous board member saying that a separate stock listing for the Auburn Hills automaker was a possible option.

"We would be irresponsible if we did not draw up exit scenarios," the respected weekly Der Spiegel quoted the board member as saying.

While German investors have proposed from time to time that DaimlerChrysler divest Chrysler, such a possibility seemed remote until last Wednesday when Chrysler reported a $1.5 billion loss for the third quarter.

During a teleconference with analysts and reporters, Chief Financial Officer Bodo Uebber said the company was studying the situation and "we don't exclude anything."

When pressed, Uebber declined to rule out a possible sale of the U.S. carmaker, which is struggling with a preponderance of large vehicles in its lineup.

They have to blame somebody, and why would they blame themselves.

I guess they think that people are saying "I am not buying a MB because they own Chrysler".
