OFFICIAL: The All-new Audi Q8 Has Arrived With A BOLD Look — Is THIS The Audi We've Been Waiting For?
We've been waiting for what feels like forever for Audi to deliver an all-new, unique looking vehicle. Although we were told that the Marc Lichte era of Audi vehicles were on their way, we were quite disappointed when all-new Audis looked like yesterday's car.

That all changes today.

Audi Q8

That's because the all-new Q8 has been fully revealed and it takes the brand in an entirely new direction. Just look at it's "face." With a side profile and hind quarters that have some original quattro design cues, it reminds me, largely, of a discount Urus that's not as brash or harsh looking.

On the inside, the interior is reminiscent of the latest we've seen from Audi with the all-new A8 and A6. I don't think there's much new to see there.

According to the press release, the EU market will launch this vehicle in Q3 2018 with one gasoline-powered six-cylinder good for 335 horsepower and two diesel alternatives we're sure won't be coming to the States. Perhaps we'll see an alternative e-Tron variant?

All that said, we're curious: Is THIS the Audi we've been waiting for?

Audi Q8

Audi's press release follows:

  • Expressive design with new Singleframe and features from the original Audi quattro
  • Generous, elegant interior, touch operating concept and high-tech navigation
  • All-wheel steering and quattro drive for agile handling and best traction

The Audi Q8 combines the elegance of a four-door luxury coupé with the practical versatility of a large SUV. Richly equipped, comprehensively connected and tough enough for off-road duty, it is a confident companion for business and leisure. The Audi Q8 launches on the European market in the third quarter of 2018.

Just what the marketplace wants...a $100,000 Audi Q5.

Is it me or does this look exactly like the Q5?

...more like a very nicely dressed Touareg wearing some Urus accessory pieces. I'm disappointed in the rear fascia, looks like the Lambo. The driver instrument panel is beautiful - just like in the newest Touareg.

At least they finally quit with that hideous tacked on tablet look and integrated it into the dash like it should be.

Oh Gee - another Audi.

For those who get off by overpaying for second tier premium product - at premium prices at an AUDI dealer - and then further enjoy their service prices - by all means - waste your money.

Just because VW has attempted to move Audi up to premium class levels (They have done so in prices) does not change my opinion of the brand - the Original Audi 5000 competed with the Volvo-Saab - Buick - Chrysler of this world - not true premiums - and the cars are still being designed by the same person who designed the Audi 5000 - post mortem. Yuck

Tom — I love you but you're so wrong in this tiered thinking you speak so much about.

The only things buyers care about is cost. No one looks at Audi or Volvo and says: "These guys are tier 2 players."

Audi led in producing some of the best interiors in the luxury game until recently. Volvo is also impressing folks, big time.

TomM, VW has done more than "attempt" to move Audi upmarket, they have succeeded.
One of the top 3 luxury brands globally and growing faster than the other two.
yes, service costs are high but are high on the MB and BMW too.

VW/Audi, please for the love of god and country get rid of the Star Trek Enterprise shifter. It reminds me of a 1986 Datsun. The best shifter on the market is in the S3-RS3.

Each Tier I Luxury Brand (MB&BMW) has their niche in the market? What is Audi's sport, luxury or_________(fill in the blank). If you are going to over pay for an enlarged version of the Q3 then it should scream fun.

It looks like a mid-cycle update to a Q7.

Typical comments from the anti-Audi crowd on this site.
Some are even trying harder than usual to be funny-insulting.

Ugly!!!!!
Too much cheap grey plastic surrounding the aweful grill. Not upscale looking at all.

This gives Lincoln's New Aviator a real opportunity in this suv market... Can't come soon enough. Superior looks inside n out.

Love it! Much prettier than the X6 and GLE Coupe. Reminds me of a Cadillac roofline. Going to be a huge hit.

Was the code name/tagline 'Urus Light'? Less filling, more taste?

It will sell because it looks A LOT better than the Q7. The Q7 was a BIG styling miss to me.

If anything the Lamborghini Urus looks more like an Audi than a Lamborghini.

Agreed, 001.

This has some panache.

Q7 is sterile.

The typical negative reaction to a new Audi here on Autospies. The naysayers once again fail to look at the sales data which indicate Audi's strong sales growth both in the United States and globally. This means Audi's design strategy is helping not hurting the company.

This Q8 will sell very well despite what all the Autospies commenters say. It combines a striking and aggressive exterior with hints of Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga with a beautiful technology-loaded interior.

I concur.

But methinks the Q6 is going to be a pure EV given how Audi's been trying to position that particular model.

The Audi A5 from 2013 to 2017 had a beautiful, distinctive and understated from end design which they of course moved away from in favor of these giant gaping orthodonture-parrot face grills which look like crap.

I don't know what the hell happened in their design group, but if I am running this sh*tshow I walk down there tomorrow morning and pull a nutty (sort of like Trump after he got humiliated by another sports team refusing to kiss his ring).

The front end is grotesque for a premium, flagship SUV. The rest of the body is run-of-the-mill SUV, as we've seen from Cadillac and VW. The interior has way too many shiny shit going on and too many planes and screens. The only car in Audi's lineup that would even garner any interest from me these days is the S5/RS5 Sportbacks.

Everything about almost every new Audi feels cold and mechanical. This does not say "sexy SUV coupe" to me.

Again, all the negative comments and we still have no idea how this will sell. I think this will sell very well. The exterior is bold, aggressive and intimidating. The interior is cutting edge, tech-loaded and utilizes Audi’s new touch screen format.

We’ve seen the negative comments after every new Audi model is launched and the sales keep rising in the U.S. and globally. China has stabilized after last year’s slow start.

The Q8 will be a very strong competitor to the X6 and GLE.

Except those actually look like “coupes”. This just looks like a big Q5. My guess is consumers will see it as an X5/GLE competitor, not an X6/GLE Coupe competitor, regardless of how much Audi and their paid trolls spin to market it.
