BMW To Stress Driving Dynamics In New Z4 - Will The Supra Follow Suit?
The third-generation BMW Z4 has reached the final phase of development ahead of the new 2-seater’s planned public debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, CA, in August.

The '19-model-year roadster has been re-engineered from the ground up with a more contemporary platform and, according to the German automaker, more sporty handling traits than the second-generation model it replaces – the so-called E89 introduced to the BMW lineup in 2009.

Why should BMW need to stress that it will stress driving dynamics in the Z4? I mean shouldn't a sports car have excellent driving dynamics?

The public perception (via car magazines, fan forums, pundits, etc.) the last 10 years has been that BMW has lost its "Ultimate Driving Machine" mojo in its quest to steal Lexus/MB customers who care more about comfort/tech than a sporty drive.

I have to admit, the renderings look great (although more an evolution of the same design language) especially in orange. More importantly, it better have a 6-speed manual and the right ratios to make shifting fun; those who don't like shifting can get the auto, but let the rest of us have our fun.

Stress driving dynamics = price it out of the volume market and then act surprised when they only sell 1,100 of them. smdh.

Build a bigger, better Miata killer at 35-40K and they'd sell 20,000.

I completely agree. A 2.0T with 300 horsepower for $27K followed by an I-6 turbo for $35K would explode sales.

Maybe at those low prices it would devalue the brand. BMW is also famous for it's profit per vehicle and they probably want to keep that going.

Stress "driving dynamics" does that mean no more artificial engine noise through the interior speakers? The 3 series has become the Toyota Camry of the auto industry and I can't see the Z4 being better. Ironically enough it is "co-developed" with Toyota.

I have 3-series with the M-Sport and I can say they have lost their way. I had a 2009 and that felt like a proper sports sedan. In addition, the new Camry has more "sport" infused in the car that my "M-Sport".

Sad days ahead for car enthusiast unless you like you electrified with a vacuum cleaner sound.
