Porsche Gives Mission E A Name For Production. Can You Come Up With Something WORSE? We Say NO!
Today was a momentous day in Porsche history. That's because the company did something unprecedented.

If someone says it's because the storied marque announced that it will be producing a fully electric auto, they're wrong. That's because we're pretty confident the sports car manufacturer may have done the unthinkable.

It gave its all-new electric vehicle (EV) the worst possible name for a production automobile.

It will be called the Taycan.

No, that is not a joke.

After giving it some thought, Agent 001 and I are pretty sure that you cannot come up with something worse than the Taycan. And we thought Volkswagen using Touareg was bad.

According to Porsche, Taycan means the equivalent of a "spirited young horse." OK. Did the manufacturer come up with that because every other good name was tayken? Can YOU take a stab at what Taycan means the equivalent of?

Can YOU come up with a WORSE name for Porsche's all-new EV?

What say you, Spies?

Well, it should play better in France than Étron.

Tucan? OMG who comes up with the names at the VW group?

The Mission E is a great name for a car with great potential. But its look and killer performance seem too much for the company to handle. Its first victim would be the Panamara. I guess the ICE division at Porsche won the battle. The new name draws direct reference to VW, and that alone would prevent many potential buyers from even considering it.

Porsche Taken...lol

It'll look similar to the Q8. A coupe SUV was approved to spread costs across the subsidiaries - Touareg/Q8/Cayenne coupe/Urus.

They should call it the Porsche Blitz. Blitz is the German word for lightning.

The could also call it the Porsche Ampere - which is the German word for amperage. The Ampere is an excellent name because it rhymes with "Ferry" as is Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche.

So very sad. The badge delete option will be taken by a high number of buyers I suspect. I'd tell people I got a Mission-E and leave it at that or a Panamera-E.
Dumb idea, but blame all those in the room who voted for it over any other option.

Honestly, those are even worse than Taycan. If you're going to call it an Ampere you may as well just call it a Volt or a Bolt.

If you're going to call it "blitz" why not just go for "blitzkrieg"?

THere are TWO possibilities with a Porsche EV

1 - THe car will simply be great - at which time the name will be meaningless
2 - THE car will simply not be great - at which time a better name will be meaningless.

Porsche is NOT a mass market car - they do not sell based on the names of the models - and so - it is really meaningless what they call the car.

Still it does make you wonder what nitwit is in charge over there!!!!

Nonsense. It matters. Give it a shite name and it will turn a lot of people off.

Great call!

Really love the name Blitz but I am sure the PC types would associate it with the 30s and 40s...

To me Blitz is cheap, unsophisticated and hardly says upscale.

Frankly I liked Mission E.

An electric luxury car = Porsche Electrolux. Wait, need to differentiate from the vacuum cleaner. Tag line "Porsche Electrolux...it doesn't suck"
