RAISE and PRAISE: 70 Years And Going STRONG — WHICH Porsche Is YOUR Favorite?
Today was a day of celebration. And, with good reason.

That's because across the globe Porschephiles got together to ring in the 70th anniversary of one of the automotive industry's most storied marques. That's right, Porsche turns 70.

Although many dealers held gatherings and there were grassroots events sprinkled throughout to mark the occasion, I wanted to poll you — the Spies — to see which Porsche stole your heart.

Given the variety of models over the years plus the special editions, I think we're going to get some juicy answers. So, Spies, hit me with it: Which Porsche is YOUR favorite?

Let us know in the comments below.

I'm still hot on the 911 Turbo or Turbo S (991.2). The Carrera 4S is still wonderful. I love the Cayenne as a practical daily driver and stuff hauler. Lots of great toys in the House of Porsche! :-)

The 904GTS was a fantastic performing car that looked great! Only $7500 new.....in 1964...if you could get on the lists.

For me, I would love to have a 991.2 GT3 with a manual gearbox.

Saw an all-new one getting XPEL today at a local shop and when it fired up my heart fluttered.

A 997 or 991.1 C2S is more than adequate though.

My childhood dream car as I have seen it for the first time at Paris Autoshow in 1972, I think.
911 Carrera RS 2.7
Later, among cars owned, a 1995 928 GTS,no other car since made such a first impression on me again.

Still prefer Ferrari
Would not be interested in most Older Porsches - they were tough to drive hard.
Exception might be a 928.

@TomM: I so agree about the older 911s. Widowmakers. It took Porsche decades to engineer the hell out of the rear-engine 911.

Some fun facts:

- Nobody starting from a clean slate would choose a rear-engine design. There are just too many inherent disadvantages.

- Porsche stuck with the suboptimal rear-engine 911 configuration because the car had such a loyal following. In fact, Porsche was going to cut the 911 from its lineup.

- Porsche has worked insanely hard to compensate for the challenges that a rear-engine design presents. In the past several years, they've finally arrived at a state in which they can leverage the few advantages that a rear-engine car offers, AND virtually negate the inherent disadvantages.

- Today's 911 Turbo is often criticized by reviewers as being "possibly too good." It's well mannered, even when driven aggressively. It handles well, without the drama. Some reviewers fault it for not having *enough* drama; for being "somewhat of a dull instrument", too "polished" for their liking.

To each their own.

I don't claim the 911 Turbo is the "best" car. But it's the most of what I like in a car. It's a supercar that one can use as a daily driver, and it's not screaming "look at me!" It can easily slip under the radar for those who don't know what it is. I like that :-)

The upcoming 718 GT4 with a proper (detuned unfortunately) GT3 engine. The first generation 981.1 GT4 was brilliant already. It isn't about absolute power so I cannot give my favorite to the 991.2 GT3.
