WHICH Latest Paint Trend Do YOU Think Is The Absolute WORST Right Now?
One of the great things about automobiles is that you can truly make them your own. Much like how consumers personalize their mobile phones, it's common for buyers of today's vehicles to make their vehicles uniquely theirs. While there's always been an aftermarket, it just seems as big and diverse as ever.

And since the rise of the wrap, there's been a dizzying amount of creativity when it comes to a vehicle's livery.

Unique minds have taken inspiration from just about everywhere to apply a new look to a car. It could come from a hot sneaker to military-style airplanes to even memes. If you can think it up, a wrap can be applied.

With that level of one to one personalization though, there is a byproduct. That would be awful ideas that become reality. One example would be the application of military green to all sorts of vehicles that it simply doesn't make sense.

I've seen military green Mercedes-Benz S-Classes, Sprinters and Cadillac Escalades. We've seen Chris Brown's Lamborghini become inspired by the look of his Nike Foamposites, which resulted in an all-new camouflage look. And then there's a flurry of automobiles that take on a "roughed up" look to them with exposed rivets, "faded" paint and "damaged" panels because it is deemed cool.

So, I've got to ask: Of all the latest paint trends, WHICH one is the worst right now?

I hate matte finishes. They're dull and ugly and a maintenance nightmare. Talk about your car value dropping the moment you drive off the lot.

Not sure about hating finishes but I do like the new trend back to non-metallic paint like Audi's Nardo Grey and the palette of Jeep, Subaru and Fiat 500 colors.
They are soft, deep and rich looking to my eye at least.

Cement, grey, primer whatever you call it paint. Stealthy I guess if you want to look like the road surface and get fewer speeding tickets. Beyond that, I see no reason to choose such a boring dull colour for your car.

I'm not a fan of the matte finishes either. I'm not a fan of the cartoonish bright colors that can be found here and there. Audi has a color that looks like raw sewage (Nardo gray) that is reprehensible.

Paint color fads come and go - and often repeat themselves every so often. Colors that do not sell get axed and replaced with new ones. It has been this way ever since chevy offered more than black.

THe AUto industry is based on Profitability - and if a color does not sell - it is canned. ANd if a new color works well - other similar colors come about. And Frankly - there were some really really bad looking to tone paint schemes - and a few that actually looked good too

So true. I am hoping that teal never returns.

I miss the color Mercedes Benz used to offer called - "Midnight Blue Non-Metallic" - which was a great navy blue/deep blue that really looked fantastic with a tan/saddle interior.

You had to pay extra for it but it was such a great color, I wonder why Mercedes doesn't bring it back.

It was a very subtle, WASP'y color - popular in NYC, Greenwich, CT and Southampton, NY and maybe certain sections of Dallas.

I have no opinion on "the worst," but I can tell you stuff I don't like:
- Camo
- Matte, especially colors that look like primer. Cement, anyone?
- Rust. Seriously. There's a paint job that looks like rust.

Makers adding stripes to special editions is not for me. A few Mustangs. The Aston Martin Rapide AMR. The Ferrari 488 Pista. The Mercedes C-Class Edition 1 (still have no idea what an Edition 1 is).

I'll throw my two cents in for matte as well. Can't stand a paint job that looks like primer.

Tired of seeing the offering of black, white, red, 5 different silvery/grays and 2 blues.

Saw a Q5 on the road the other day in Azores Green - first nice dark green I've seen offered in a while on anything German.
