Volvo CEO Claims Auto Tarriffs Could Restrict Job Creation At New Auto Plant

Volvo is a puppet of the Chinese, so this is total BS.

Trump Cult Leader, #45, and many of his devotees don't realize that when the US imposes a tariff on foreign products coming into the US, this does **NOT** mean the foreign manufacturers or governments make tariff "payments" to America.

Tariffs mean US government agents apply a new tax on products and services coming into the US. This raises the purchase price of products and services for US consumers. The People of America end up footing the bill for tariffs.

In the best case, the *HOPE* behind this strategy is that domestic consumers will buy more of the domestic equivalent products and services, and therefore increase jobs and GDP domestically. In the worst case, tariffs hold US consumers hostage when US governments are pissed at foreign governments or corporations.

In practice, tarifs prove to be folly. The world knows this. Well, 'cept fer 'Merkuh.
That's why for decades, practically the whole world (including America) has been working aggressively to remove tariffs and other barriers to trade.


Fun facts:

1) Canada, with a population roughly 1/10 the size of the US's, actually buys **MORE** products and services from the US than the US buys from Canada, thanks to a reduction of trade barriers over the past decades. This is true, in spite of the lower value of the Canadian dollar (AKA The Canadian Peso) as compared to the US greenback.

2) Trump Cult Leader, #45, was talking out of his ass when he lied about the US/Canada trade deficit in Canada's favor. He conveniently excluded services, which every country in the world includes when they calculate trade. It's just another lie by #45, and repeated by his devotees.


Tariffs hurt everyone. That's why most of the entire world -- 'cept fer 'Merkuh -- is continuing to work to reduce trade barriers. Each country is not doing this because they believe they are being good world citizens, helping others but to their own detriment. They work to remove trade barriers because it benefits THEM and their people to do so. That's a simple fact.

The Trump Cult will, of course, tell you otherwise, so expect it :-/ In their minds, coal is clean, US tariffs are good, Nazis are "fine people", babies of immigrants belong in prison, etc. Such are the workings of a Daffy mind :-(

This points out the idiocy of Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminum. Fully 30% of the imported metals go into products that are exported right back out of the country including BMWs and Volvos from SC. It makes US manufacturing less competitive when a major component of the product has a big price increase. SC workers may lose their jobs in high-tech manufacturing, but I'm sure Trump has a great job waiting for them in a coal mine or smelter plant.

Shake it up baby, twist and shout!...the world needs a wake up call and Trump is delivering.

This is good tonic for the US. People will need to see and what the negative effects of tariffs are. Further when they are turned down for general health care because of pre-existing conditions the American people should all be having lots of fun.

I don't know. Sometimes I think this MAGA crowd would line for the ovens if Trump told them to.
