Suzuki Growing Fast, But Who’s Watching?

"It's the fastest-growing brand in the U.S. auto market. It's also virtually unknown.

As October wraps up, it's turning into the best year ever for American Suzuki. By mid-month, the Japanese import had topped its previous, full-year record of 82,101 cars, trucks, and crossovers, and if things continue on that track, Suzuki should nudge past the 100,000 mark for the first time ever before the year is out.

That's good news for a company that some analysts have long predicted would abandon the U.S. market. Then again, most potential U.S. buyers wouldn't have even noticed.

"We need to better define what we stand for in the U.S. ," acknowledges Gene Brown, marketing director for American Suzuki. Actually, Brown admits, it would help to get buyers to know anything about the brand. "The vast majority of people don't even know" Suzuki sells cars in the U.S. , he laments.

On a global scale, Suzuki is a significant player, with sales totaling 2.4 million last year. Demand has been growing steadily, leading the automaker to open new plants in Hungary and, soon, in Japan - its first new assembly line in the home market in decades. But in the States, Suzuki has long been lost in the shadows of big Asian imports, such as Toyota and Honda, and even the second-tier Japanese marques, such as Mazda and Mitsubishi."

Correct: Suzuki Hayabusa "was" the fastest production bike in the world, comparable to Veyron for cars..

Suzuki Hayabusa is the Torque and Horsepower behomoth of the world of Motorcycles and currently Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 is finally getting ready to "officially" unseat Hayabusa as the fastest motorcycle.. Kawasaki Ninja ZX models and Hayabusa has been battling for this position from each other for years....

Hoped for Suzuki Hayabusa, "Japanese Peregrine falcon" to keep its title as the World's fastest bike which it held since its inception 5-6 years ago BUT its old nemisis- Kawasaki Ninja ZX14 has finally toppled Hayabusa this year with the world’s first 200bhp production motorcycle as the fastest cycle on the planet, period.

Suzuki motorcycle (not sure if its a Ninja) also has the title of only motorcycle with a diesel engine for motorcycle.

As a motorcycle enthusiast..Anyone who truely wants to be amazed by driving dynamics..Come jump onto the bandwagon of Motorcycles..and then you will realize true meaning of "Driving Dynamics", Hospitalization included.

closest to bike motors are the 2.0/2.2 in the honda S2000 and the 1.8 - 180 hp in the corolla and matrix xrs. (which is tuned for 190 hp in the lotus elise.)

the whiners and naysayers complain that all these engines have no guts/torque at low rpm. that you gotta wind 'tm up to access the power.

well, duhhh. that's the NATURE of small high-output motors! AND, that's also where most of the FUN is at!

that's also why you have close-ratio trannys with more gears for you to play with,
